Q101 and WRXP to end on Thursday

From the looks of their playlist right now ( http://www.yes.com/WKQX ) Q101 seems to be busting out some deeper cuts not played in quite a while. With the end eminent, it may be interesting to see what they exactly throw on in the next day or two. I will definitely check it out. WRXP New York, on the other hand is just playing their normal fare. ???

It might be a good time to hear some interesting stuff on Q101 tonight.

Stream came back, they talked about Local H and Scott Lucas, then played a great Kill Hannah track. Interesting that the host Chris Payne says he can't use the call letters (he actually means he's not supposed to say Q101) but the New York station continues to use the same station identifiers and promos more than 90 minutes after the supposed "end."

But here's the big takeaway IMO:
Q101’s air personalities signed off for the last time Thursday (and Merlin Media sold Q101’s moniker and intellectual property to an online venture), but WKQX is expected to continue to air alternative rock music through Monday. Stunting will ensue after that, leading up to the launch of a news format in the coming weeks, according to knowledgeable sources.

Ended with Pumpkins "Tonight Tonight" and then the song they started with in '92, Cure "Friday I'm in Love." Classy finish. And then the announcement that the 101.1 music will continue, on 97.9HD2 starting Monday.

I am out of the area, what is on Q101 right now? Are they still doing music, or what is the stunting?

Nonstop Q101 music until monday or earlier. Don't know why are all the DJ's are gone already, because on monday are they are gonna stunt for a couple of days...pointless... ::)

Randy has NEVER...I repeat NEVER shown his cards when he runs his own company in the past. When he was with CC a few things were always assumed, but on his own, he has always thrown grenades to scare the competition and then do something completely different.

He really might try to go News/Talk in Chicago, but I would find it interesting he played his cards so soon.

Could the LOOP make it up the dial to 101 and something else show up on 97.9?

With CBS blowing up Fresh, maybe that was his plan the whole time...to launch a really hyper local full service AC station on 101? Just a thought, but Randy launched some of the best AC stations in the country.
