Q101 and WRXP to end on Thursday

I am out of the area, what is on Q101 right now? Are they still doing music, or what is the stunting?

Nonstop Q101 music until monday or earlier. Don't know why are all the DJ's are gone already, because on monday are they are gonna stunt for a couple of days...pointless... ::)

Q101 ceased using it's branding as of 1:01AM last night. It's just segued music until Monday with only the legal ID and "97.9 HD-2" liners airing.

That's because Merlin Media sold off the "Q101" name, q101.com, their entire history and intellectual property to Broadcast Barter Radio Networks. After Monday, the stream on q101.com will be separated, with music coming from Emmis' KROX/Austin for a few weeks. Then BBRN will "re-launch" "Q101" as a commercial-free internet-only station aimed at Chicagoans.

What will debut on 97.9 HD-2/online will be a separate station unrelated to WKQX. It won't even be, say, "Q101 on 97.9."

I'm sure there's no room on the Chicago 'waves to put up a HD2-to-FM translator as 99X/Atlanta has done on 99.1 but it would be cool if there was!

There's no way in hell The Loop brand will go way or change substantially. Hasn't anyone else seen the latest ratings? The Loop just posted its best numbers in years!

Retooling the playlist from primarily 80's butt rock to mainstream classic rock was a long overdue and sorely needed move.

Can anyone tell me what's being played on Loop Loud since the big shake-up? With Q101 gone and WIIL Rock only coming in sporadically in my area, I'm jonesing for some good loud obnoxious rock so I'm debating whether or not to get an HD radio.

Cheers!
