Q102 circa 1975

Love the stories about Q not playing George Michael for obvious reasons. I also remember them not playing Styx Mr. Roboto simply because it sucked. Even though it was a #1 song. They did their own thing. That was their appeal. One of many. Every jock had their own great personality. The occasional album cut also added the coolest flavor to that station during those great days in the 70's into the 80's.
 
Q-102 had gaping gaps in their playlist in the mid-'80s. In that era though, they had pretty much dropped the album cuts.

I think they improved after the George Michael debacle, but they played too many dumb ballads. I don't know why people insist Lexington's WLAP-FM was "almost AC" while Q-102 gets let off the hook even though it clearly played more ballads. I guess WLAP-FM skewed older while a lot of ballads at the time skewed younger.
