Though it's nice for Jim Davis, truly a great guy in this business and a knowledgable resource (he's going on 42 years in radio)--how does he feel about being OM for a brokered programming station owned by a vindictive female? (for more info on that, see the Scene magazine article on Radio One from August 2002.)

Ah, yes. The memorable expose that cost Dale Edwards his job on WJMO/1490. (He now owns WABQ/1540 and WBKC/1460, so it wasn't all that bad... ;)

I'm glad he has a job again. But it's at a station that DEFINED the word "paytoilet." The real meat at Radio One is at WZAK, WENZ, and even WJMO. Plus, it has a God-awful signal.

I would hope that no one falsely draws conclusions and thinks that WERE could go standards. Such a move would be totally out of place within Radio One; they'd actually need to adverise that, yes, WERE exists, and it is relevant again. Jim would not have a problem finding clients, but it wouldn't be workable.

I've always been curious if Radio One would give a damn about WERE, based on the fact that Jim's predecessor, Tom Busch slaved away at WERE for four years, and is remembered for nothing in particular. WERE looks to be Radio Siberia.

May not happen, as long as WQAL continues to exist. It's so easy to do - as easy as WKNR firing Mike Luczak, another ineffective PD. And that ticks me off.

I'd blow up the morning show all up. Everyone goes. They all need to start fresh.

Ideally, I'd plug in a syndicated host like Kidd Kraddich and start a nationwide search for a local host. No male-female duo, which has existed in some form or another since Larry Morrow and Sally Spitz. Do something different.

Agreed.

Agreed yet again.

Not only that, it doesn't fit in at ALL. Leeza's only on because Infinity and Leeza's syndicator, WW1, are corporate sisters.

I can't agree more: if you CAN'T find good jocks, air nothing but bumpers.

Either by volition, or if "Jack" says so...
