If I was management of KTXL, I would use the newly vacated spot on 40.2 for a combination of RTV & Local Programming. Call it "Retro TV 40". Revive the old KTXL logo. Use some of the RTV programming. Add some Prime Time Movies. Maybe add some Morning Kiddie Programming. Revive the good old days of KTXL when it was a highly rated Independent TV Station in the 1970's & Early 1980's.

They should, KTXL was on my cable system, same with KTVU in the 70s and 80s and was dropped when KMPH became FOX, I rememeber The all night movies with Tom Labre, water beds.Retro TV needs to be on in the Sacramento/ Stockton/Modesto market and in San Francisco.
Ah, the good old days before satellite programming when Cable Systems picked up long distance tv signals. (For Stockton, It was the San Francisco Bay Area TV Stations.)

Was it worth CBS to dump 610 KFRC to get 106.9 FM in San Francisco in exchange for owning KOVR 13 in Sacramento? Just wondering. ???

They probably didn't make much with KFRC (61O) billing wise.

A successful CBS TV station in a Top 20 market should be more profitable.

The billing for KCBS should have been improved with the addition of younger demos acquired with 106.9.

Selling 610 for 35 million dollars in 2005 was quite lucrative. I helped offset the cost of 106.9 (95 million) purchase.

So, wait... Does KOVR STILL offset CBS primetime -1 hr even today?
I remember when KPIX-5 did it when I lived in San Jose in the early 90's.
Back then there was nothing on CBS I really watched outside of live sports, not to mention I couldn't pick up KPIX very well over bunny ears.

It was always odd to me but as a SoCal transplanted into NoCal for work I could only roll with the punches that were dealt to me.

Yup...KOVR saw some good ratings and its 10pm news was strong. Even after CBS bought it, they saw the ratings gold they had and stuck with early prime.
