Question about SoapNet

Likely once Disney secures a deal for Disney Jr. on all or most of the major systems. Suppose it's a question for Disney. I think Fios still carries SoapNet.

Disney replaced SoapNet with Disney Junior earlier this year. SoapNet's days were numbered when "All My Children" and "One Life to Live" were cancelled.

I would assume it's gone when both Disney Junior has carriage and the carriage agreements for SOAPNet do run out. The only reason DirecTV jumped on Disney Junior was because of the Viacom standoff, and Dish and Charter haven't begun to carry it yet both because of HD carriage issues (Dish has an ugly one with Disney's networks; only the ESPN networks are carried in the format) and because ratings are nil after 10pm when the last kids have gone to bed.

As for SOAPNet, at this point it's just a server running things on loop that only costs the transponder space and the per-episode running rights for episodes (along with the licensing fees for the NBC and CBS soaps), which are all mostly in ABC Family's budget. It could go on forever if it wanted, and a digital cable channel takes up nearly no space in the 100's. Nick GAS ran for years on Dish long after it officially 'ended', for instance, and you could argue that VH1 Soul and CMT Pure Country only exist at this point for package number reasons and not any ratings.

Yup, CH 143 on FiOS. I'm guessing they'll run it until there's nothing left but color bars or they ask for more $ at that time they'll make it Ultimate tier only to watch the color bars. ;D

The channel officially ended at the end of 2007, when The N replaced the channel, but Dish kept it on until April 2009, when it was replaced with a west coast feed of Cartoon Network. Of course, they began mailing it in in November 2005, when they began showing a fixed schedule of the same six series every day:

Time Warner L.A. still carries SoapNet on channel 152. Anyone else's Time Warner systems still carry it?
The TW systems in and around Albany, NY still carry it as well as Disney Junior.

Would some of those reruns like 'Beverly Hills 90210', 'One Tree Hill', etc. likely roll over to ABC Family? Since GH is still alive for the time being, I also wonder if ABC would just run it perhaps after 'The 700 Club', which is dead space for them so no loss either, and is at midnight.

The only thing I ever watched on SoapNet was "Dallas." BTW: If there's going to be a Disney 'Junior', there should be a Disney "Senior", with stuff from the Disney vault like Spin & Marty, The Mickey Mouse Club and The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh.

SoapNet is still on Cox Cable in Phoenix.

I'd also assume that some of their programming gets shifted to another Disney channel. SoapNet recently started showing Veronica Mars

Could SoapNet be the final solution for "ABC Family"? What if Disney essentially substitutes SoapNet for ABC Family in contracts over time, and then ends up with a channel with no 700 Club? They could then rebrand it "ABC Spark" like its Canadian counterpart. Or, heck, even if they keep ABC Family, rebrand SoapNet as ABC Spark, and use it to program more acquired series and library content, as the originals continue to take over ABC Family.

As I heard, according to the contract they signed with Pat Robertson, they had to shut down ABC Family and renegotiate the contracts with the cable systems first before they can make such a move. It's also a move made difficult, as many systems already replaced SoapNet with Disney Junior.
