I agree with you. Most of the best hosts hosts rely very little on calls, taking one occasionally. What's different with JT is how he handles the calls....and the callers he gets. He has no patience for calls that aren't interesting, entertaining and aren't immediately adding to the show's content. I think it's always worked well for him. It's an interesting counter program to ESPN which prefers to have long boring calls with sportswriterszzzzzzzzzzz.

FWIW, JT is only heard on WEEI for 2 of his four hours at most. Depending on when WEEI's "Red Sox Review" ends, JT is heard at most from midnight-2AM.
 
J.T. has been cleared on WEEI since 1995. Rome, Cowherd and Patrick would kill for one hour on WEEI. J.T. has built an empire at night because he not only works for Clear Channel, but also several other big stations that compete againt CC. There is a reason for this, he is very good. CC syndicates George Noory and other huge hosts who work at night because that is where the clearence is. The Brick has turned down several major market midday and morning shows to keep his syndication going with Fox and Premiere.

Thank god he was able to spin off someone's act and try to create his own.
I like the guy, but he is not one of the best in the business at the local or national level.

If you check with agents in sports radio he is not one of the top 25 benchmark contracts.
If he invested well, good for him.
On paydays, he is not close to the heavy hitters in the industry.

JT likes to say he takes more calls than anyone on the planet......He do not do compelling radio. Trying to be the a psuedo-JRome is not compelling, yelling in the microphone is not compelling. He is a spare.
 
As J.T. always says "It's tougher to take calls from all over the country then read a show that was handed to him on a script with several fake e-mails mixed in". He has more passion
and opinions and goes to more major sporting events than anyone in sports radio.
You haters should all camp outside that dump in Bristol and look to get your autograph books signed.

I can remember when you said that the Houston Texans, playing in their first Nfl game would get blown out by the Cowboys. You were predicting a 60-7 blowout. When callers said that Houston might give them a good game, you called them idiots.

Houston won the game.
 
Talking heads whther its radio or tv never get predictions right. They're paid for opinions for better or worse. I don't listen for predictions. I don't know about you.

You guys don't really think that's JT do you? I would imagine it's some producer or someone of that ilk.

I used to really dislike JT's show but I find it better than what ESPN has I guess that tells you something about ESPN radio. I recently got a SNR station here in my area so I now listen to Todd Wright who I listened to at the four letter when he isn't pre-empted by Royals baseball ugh.
 
Well guys, it has been over a year since I posted this and you know what?

JT still has by far worst sports talk show that has ever hit the airwaves. This guy is just horrible.

How Fox has him on the air instead of a number of guys that are much better is beyond me.

that show doesn't matter because it's ion an insignificant time slot and when JT's contract is up, he'll be the latest victim of high paid guys being replaced with no name, low paid stiffs who just make the needles move at night when a limited number of sports dorks are listening and calling in.

To demonstrate further how meaningless sports talk is late night, Schlock News is passing off that former sports talk/comedian-turned cerified nut ball religious freak David Stein as an alternative. "Tell me something good in your miserable life" Nothing David, but it's better than being you [EDIT]! Winner, winner chicken [EDIT]!

It has been a year since you bashed J.T. Since then he signed a new long term deal with Premiere. You might of heard of them, they syndicate Rome, Rush and the biggest names in talk radio. He is also on more stations than any other host on Fox. You love Bruno, but he is still out of work and considered a radio psycho and Colin got divorced and lost half his networth. Keep bashing J.T. because you look like a jerk! He goes to sporting events and talks to listeners instead of reading fake e-mails. You must also hate his military night? You will continue to listen to him because he continues to grow his show and relationship with Premiere. You are a hater and groupie of the "Out of work Tony Bruno". Great move!
 
How is Bruno a "radio psycho" when he is the nicest, most cooperative, affiliate and listener friendly guy in all of sports radio. I'm sure if you ask JT and others who know him, his problem has nothing to do with his attitude or ability to work with others, it's bad companies with bad management who change directions and go cheap.
Ask Clear Channel if they made the right move by phasing out Bruno and bringing in Van Earl Wright to replace him. Didn't they have to fire him a few months in and buy him out? How much did they save with that brilliant management strategy? Sporting News is a sewer run by a lying fraud named Clancy Woods who hired Bruno to help sell that turkey network, then found a way to not have to re-sign him so they could go cheap and re-run the same lame shows all day and night and never even replaced Bruno's show.
Get some facts before you condemn people you know nothing about!
