I personally keep a Tascam 122 mk II around for the 100s of cassettes I still have and really don't have time to digitize all of them, but when I do, it's there to do so. It's not used a lot, and I think I paid $100 including shipping off ebay. It's what I used professionally, so that was a factor is getting one. It's very dependable, and the only thing I have replaced yet is the belt that lifts the heads. A pain to replace, but managed to source a replacement for locally for $2. I'll have to be careful of the transport controls as mentioned here. I do have some additional consumer decks around for backups, but use the tascam mostly.
I know a guy who up until recently delivered his show to a community station on cassette. Given he is computer challenged, it was probably a better fit. He's doing well recording on the PC, but still uses them to some degree.
