Radio 106.7

Strange thing is, a competitive site which shall remain nameless lists the owner as "Your Public Radio" instead of Clear Channel. Strange... Could that be related to the WOSU translator that was on that frequency before WRXS?

I think the "Your Public Radio" thing refers to the station where the WRXS call letters used to be - The former X106.9 in Ocean City, MD, which is now a repeater for public radio station WYPR (Your Public Radio) in Baltimore.

The calls on the Ocean City station are now WYPO.... Reminds me of the movie Beavis & Butthead were watching - "Joey Butta-wypo: My Story" ;D

Ok 106.7 is a poor attempt of copying CD 101 success. Very poor.

I don't know if I would call CD101 successful. I also would argue that Radio 106.7 is not trying to copy or otherwise emulate CD101. CD101 is far more Indie and I really don't think Radio 106.7 wants to get into that game. There will always be people that would rather hear the latest from a new garage band out of Lubbock that can be downloaded from cdbaby.com and then the listeners that only have an interest in the more mainstream crossover music.

Not saying one is better than the other, just different strokes.

I think the comparison to QFM96 for a different generation is spot on.

You're just saying that cause CBusDave and Dave Plantz are the same person. Two can play at that game, and in the future we're going to be hearing from jeremiahj, johannesj, and the lovely miss josephinej, who will all be supporting jakej's points of view.

Not true, I'm just trying to copy Dave Plantz.

Actually no... For one, I really could care less about this argument over semantics and words like "alternative", "indie", and "mainstream". I think the formatic differences between 101 and 106 are very clear but if you disagree, fine, that's cool man.

Second, it's definitely not worth the time to create a second username simply so I can prove something on a message board over a topic that primarily lies in the subjective realm of personal taste. Heck, it looks like the IP addresses are logged. Maybe one of the administrators or moderators can give you a hand if you don't believe me or cbusdave.

Again, I know the web can easily be interpreted in a way where people come across as jerks, and hopefully, I haven't come across that way. If I have, my apologies. I just enjoy the discussion here, the strategy behind the business (I'm in marketing myself), and hearing all the different opinions. :)

I'm sorry, Dave. I was just trying to have some innocent fun with the situation, and maybe I should've sprinkled some ;D around the post. I know that making sense of my sense of humor can be difficult at times.

;D ;D ;D

;D ;D ;D Yes, excellent job, CBusDave. ;D ;D ;D

;D ;D ;D

Sorry, couldn't resist. You're right, Homer; Dave P. made his point very well. I know I'd be miffed if someone posted, even in jest, that I was also someone else on this board, and the other person would be INCENSED.

Here, Here to Dave!

Very good response. Very classy

well done Dave

Thanks. Well, when you post under your real name, you'd like to present yourself as you would in real life. Why act like an idiot over something so subjective? Trust me, I've had my share of angry anonymous internet posts. Save the "passion" for something more important, I say...

Dave, your post is an inspiration to me and I've decided to come out of the closet, or at least my name has. Anyone can stick Tim Anstaett in quotes and Google it sometime and he or she will find Offense passages/information, my running Web site, and certain race results (though not my best ones -- sadly missing are the 15:59 5K I ran in '99 and the $6,000 result of my fundraising efforts for the Leukemia Society as a Team In Training runner and racer).
Wow, I feel so liberated! I think we should all consider coming clean and revealing ourselves; the only "Top Secrets" should be yesterday's songs and not today's identities. Dave Plantz and Jason Roberts and Johnboy Crenshaw, you da men!

Jakej,

I admire your passion, I truly do, but do you realize you seem to be finding a way to work the words "top secrets" into just about every topic you post on? There are those out here rooting for you but you know, "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" was everyone's favorite game show until it was on 8 nights a week. It's just my opinion, take it for what it is or isn't worth to you. I do wish you luck in your search for a venue.

Yeah, but I don't think it's any "Secret" that some of the ways in which I work the words in are truly inventive. ;D
Of course you're right, Chuck Douglas (by the way, you da man, too, if that's your real name), but on the other hand, radio bludgeons us over the head with the same songs over and over again, so maybe I'm just taking a page out of its sorry book and doing the same type of hammering with "Yes-", er, "YTS". I know, I know, why is incessant repetition a sin in radio's case but okay in mine? I can't answer that. But for your sake and for the sake of hundreds of others who are becoming similarly nauseated by it all, I'll try and cut back. We don't need people getting sick all over their keyboards; that's not why I started posting on Radio-Info all those years ago. (Well, it sort of is, since I knew that none of the bums back then were gonna agree with anything I wrote -- might as well make 'em vomit while I'm at it. ;D ;D ;D)

I hadn't Googled myself in a while, and someone just let me know that searching my name doesn't lead to much stuff from the fanzine. So Google "Offense Newsletter" instead and you'll have a bit more fun. (The Offense transitioned from an up-to-92-page 8 1/2" x 7" publication to an up-to-35-page 8 1/2" x 11" newsletter midway through the '80s.)
Oh, and in my quest to do something silly with the smileys, I'm afraid I went too far and came up with a really dumb and immature sentence at the end of my previous post. Sorry about that, everyone.
