Radio 92.3 last song before the flip?

Inner Sanctum just ended, and they're still playing music.

Sounds like they're gonna go right down to the nub with the tunes until 6 a.m.

Yeah, odd that they chose that song to play before Inner Sanctum started. I will miss the station (even though I listened less and less as they played the same older songs over and over again, and not much in the way of new music.) I blame GKB a whole lot more than CBS for the station's demise, though. If WKNR was not such a crappy product, there would not have been as much clamor for a new sports station.

It's all Hammer's fault, by golly!

I wonder if "It's The End of the World" (as well as the Cleveland Brown soundbyte) was purely Pat and Jim's selection, obviously given their past at "107.9 The End".

For the record, Inner Sanctum is continuing on WNWV/107.3. Same 10p-12a timeslot next Sunday, with a repeat airing on Wednesday night.

The last song played on Inner Sanctum? "Green Mind" by Dink, aka the "Bob Serpantini 'Go-To-Hell' Song."

Apparently, there is going to be no internet stream, it will be HD2 only.

From Radio 92.3's Facebook:

Beginning Monday you will need a HD radio to be able to hear Radio 92.3. Radio923fm.com will continue to bring you alternative news, concert announcements, photos, videos, and more.

Not streaming "radio 92.3" is a questionable idea. The ultimate cutting off of their nose to spite their face. They might as well not continue the format then - who will be able to listen to the station at all?

I think the announcement was worded that way to hype HD Radio over all other options - CBS has still streamed other HD incarnations of stations that have left terrestrial radio: WHFS, for one. Of course, do note that Radio Shack no longer sells HD Radios.

They never did run a legal ID that I heard (started listening at 5:50am...maybe they did it before that)...but, who cares? 92.3 The Fan is up & rolling...and settling in.

Great article on OMW's blog about 92.3 The Fan's launch.

They did a great job giving us all the rumors, and what turned out to be...very on target with 95% of the info.

Many of us heard bits & pieces from other media friends from around the country, myself included. But, OMW & Nathan were excellent in getting a ton of information...at times weeks in advance. Thanks, guys.

And, as OMW said...let the sportstalk battle begin. It'll be fun going back and forth between 850 and 92.3 (or on-line stream).

I pulled up the Radio 92.3 stream on Monday morning at about 5 AM. The songs being played that hour were not being reflected on the player; it was stuck at "Bullet (With Butterly Wings?)" by Smashing Pumpkins, from whenever that song was last played, it looks like. There were even a few local commercials that played that hour that otherwise weren't blocked out of the stream - including a spot for a local comedy club voiced by future 92.3 employee Booms - did anyone else hear this? I thought that was quite ironic.

Then at around 5:50 AM, something happened in the middle of a song: there was silence, then they resumed a different song. The titles once again started showing up on the player. Never did hear "Dammit" so they likely switched the 92.3 feed with the Internet stream for the brand new HD-exclusive Radio 92.3, which supposedly was not going to have its own Internet stream, based on what their Facebook page had said...

The last song I heard over the air at 6AM was Second Chance by Shinedown.

Yep, I heard that comedy club spot by Booms, twice in that last hour. Technically, it was his debut on the station :D (Well, if you don't count his cup of coffee as "Jammin' 92's" morning co-host back in the day!)

You're right. "radio 92.3's" website had the wrong song listed, and I had a brain cramp forgetting "Second Chance." Whoops. :p
