Cool stuff; i've actually gotten the chance to meet Bill Ogden before(he and my dad both work for a local school district), he's a really nice guy and it's been a pleasure to talk to him the couple of times that I have spoken to him.

Think KJR-A middays was Jerry Kaye ... not Bob Brooks (who really WAS on KLSY). I remember as I was @ 'JR in 1990 & Jerry was one of my dearest friends.

Oh for God's sake! You're very right. So much for my weak attempt at a makeshift cut & paste template; it only works when you actually cut. I never met Jerry but I enjoyed him on the radio for many years and many stations. Thanks for catching that!

Some more updates:

Bruce Cannon...recently in Bend, OR
Sky Walker...moved back to homestate Colorado, doing some local/syndicated radio
Renee Rhoades...now in Tyler, Texas!
Eric Funk...heard he is in W. Montana
Paul Walker...many years in OR, now in Idaho
Rick Scott...sports radio consultant
BJ Donovan...last in Syracuse, NY...no recent update
Dave Wingert...Omaha

Nice job by all on the names of the 80's and 90's Dj's I remember on the Air around Sea-Tac.
Few more include Greg Cook, Dave Christiansen, Steve Lloyd(excellent personatlity), Tom Foley, Nick Diamond, Scott Norman, Bob Hovans, Langen of Langen and West?, one of my all time favs now on weekends at KZOK Beau Roberts. Anybody know what happened to Crazy Steve Randal, early KNBQ fame? Jeff Randall?

Thanks Scott S. for the update on your resume. Looking forward to hearing your station.
Pretty sure there are some AM's out there going for reasonable prices.

BJ Donovan was cut by his Syracuse station after YEARS on the air there. About a month later they put him back on weekends so he's still on the air at same station, though not as frequently.

Foley is real estate attorney these days. He came back for a KING reunion a couple years ago. He had started his transition from radio to real estate while working @ KING (that's actually what got him liberated from his paycheck there).

Dave C. still living here in Seattle ... another radio to technology transplant. Greg Cook is active on Facebook ... am thinking he's San Diego these days. Hovanes I'd like to know about. I asked Gary Bryan a couple years ago about Steve Randall and I think they still keep in touch. Others...Rob Conrad is in Birmingham, AL doing mornings; Andy Barber in OK doing mornings, Lockwood in Florida on the golf course, Rick Donovan (KING, KTAC) active in non-profit world in Tacoma, "Citizen Bill" who came from KREM to KING went to KYA and still in SFO market, I believe (awesome jock), Steve Knight (KING News) I heard on CBS national when listening to Hersholt's final morning. Harper left us, of course. Mark Jeffries (KJR) is either Eastern WA or ID doing small market radio (as manager), Hansen, Charlie, Chet have all been mentioned. Les Parsons may still be on his boat (he's semi-active on email) ... and lost track of many of the others, including BJ Young (KING), JJ Jackson (KJR). Eric Chase (KJR) in Houston ... had a long run on oldies stations as "Paul Christy", searadiofreak covered others like sky walkerl.

Thanks LBB!

Dan Foley had one of the best radio personality voices that I can remember.
JJ Jackson is Don Shorter? If so, he's been a minister in Puyallup for a long time.
Scotty Brink was on Young Country around the time.
Theres a Jock whose resume would take a book!
Speaking of Jeffries, is his brother Chuck Bolland still working for the State of WA? (thats the way the ball bounces)
One more name I remember on KVI around this time is Janice Martin.

BTW Scott S.
I do enjoy reading your post even though some are very foreign to me.

Charlie Busch is the morning guy at KLOO in Corvalis, OR.

Nice to see Janice's name. Her and I were on KGRG together in 1980 and 1981 and she was instrumental in helping me get my gig at KZOK in 1982. I've totally lost touch with her -- last saw her about (coincidentally) in about 1990 at the UW where we both happened to be taking classes. Her 9-noon slot at KVI had played out by then.

Someone asked for KMPS and that's a good point -- I haven't represented the country stations yet so here goes:

KMPS (94.1 fm, 1300 am COUNTRY-- simulcasting 24/7 apparently)
6am-10am ICHABOD CAINE & THE WAKING CREW (with Don Riggs & Patti Par)
10am-3pm STUBBS
3pm-7pm TONY THOMAS
7pm-12a JENNIFER WOOD
12a-6am DEREK MURRAY

KRPM (106.1 fm, 770 am COUNTRY -- also simulcasting 24/7)
5:30am-10am RP McMURPHY, MARK PIERCE & ANN D'ANGELO
10am-3pm TOM CHURCH
3pm-7pm DEWEY BOYNTON
7pm-12am SANDY LOUIE
12am-5:30am LIA KNIGHT

Also I neglected to note earlier that KBSG was yet another simulcaster (97.3 fm & 1210 am)

Sorry for the jaggedness of all this info. I probably could have made it much more concise had I known it would be a popular topic. Maybe I'll hold a seminar someday and do a fancy PowerPoint. You'll all be invited... :)

you included some of the 1990 seattle country outlets below, but does your radio guide have a listing for KWYZ everett? i think KWYZ survived until 90 or 91 as a legit, gavin reporting country station. then the lights went out after many years of independent country programming. the country gold network, eventually set sail on this frequency, with a crew and bad captain unseasoned(to mock an old gordon lightfoot song). korean pirates eventually took over the tattered ship and motley crew, somewhere in the late 90's, and still fly that korean flag today.................... i happened to purchase a good part of the vintage vinyl KWYZ music library some time in the early 90's, to add to my own country library, but not sure of the exact date.

Chuck Knopf was doing news at kpam860 in Portland in 08. Not sure now

Was Lockwood doing a sports show at this time. Bob and Jim doing music? Format? Sports only at night?
The Groz came along close to this time? I know Jim jumps on here once in a while and could most likely answer what was going on. Thanks!

Whoa -- that's huge. Is that breaking news? I stopped listening to the station after they dumped Marty & Jodi. Good to hear someone at the Mountain got the message that local is important to the Seattle audience.

jack allen, i remember from KVI in the 70's and /or 80's. on KVI "loveline" a nightly radio dating show that had the group America song "lonely people" as the theme song. KKFX's deacon baker circa 1990. not familiar with him on the AM urban channel kkfx, but eventually suffered through several years of his mid 90's KRPM/K106 corporate playlist, and liner card reading shtick/act at night......... oh thats right, i wont degrade local radio personalities, but i did/do question the logic there.......... yes, tammi bennett mornings now at KMTT.....shes been around for awhile on the seattle AAA/rock scene. ive talked to her on several occasions at KEZX in the 80's, and KMTT in the early 90's. always been a fan of her radio work/talent................
