Radio Dark in Columbus due to storms..

Scanning the dial this evening.. The only station I found dark was still 103.1.

88.1 and 103.1 are still off the air as of this morning. Also, WCRS/WCRX-LP is still off the air. I wonder if 88.1 got back on the air after Fridays storm only to be silenced again by the storms last night. The storm were pretty bad around the 88.1 tower site.

Nothing on the WVKO-FM 103.1 website about the station being off air.

Wouldn't be surprised if they are off a week or more, if history repeats itself. They don't have
a back up generator at their tower site.

1580 WVKO-AM was on yesterday afternoon and night but has been off the air all this morning. They are presently running a open carrier on 1580. At least they were on the air for one of my favorite programs last night.

From the WVKO-AM 1580 Facebook page.. 24 hours ago:

WVKO 1580 AM
"Yesterday via mobile
Sing it girl! "I made it through it all" as the song goes on our gospel programming right now. We've made it through and we're back on the air! Have you made it through the heat and power outage yet?"

This is strange because WVKO-AM was on the air up until at least 2:00 AM last night.. The storm ended by at about 7:00 PM.. From the VKO Facebook page:

"Yes, the 2nd storm was a double wammy for us. Hope to be back on soon!"

As of this morning SAGA's studios were still on Generator power (being in Upper Arlington) one of the harder areas hit.. Don't know if their back on main power yet.

Yeah, but out here in Arlington the debris looked much nicer than it did in other parts of town, and generally came down in a more orderly fashion.

Checked this evening .. 88.1 is on air.. even the 98.3 translator for 102.1 is back up.. The only station still dark is 103.1.

The huge mess on N. Hamilton Rd. is right by where the tower/transmitter for 104.9 is at. AEP is saying it will be 5-7 days before power is back on... I would guess they are on a generator.

Yes they are on generator at their tower site... (still are last I heard).

I have a buddy who lives in Green Mountain, I think his house was built back in the day by Huchinson Homes. Anyways I know on Green Mountain Lincoln has their KS107.5, KKFN 104.3 the Fan, and KYGO aux site. I can't remember who else is up there. Green Mountain is just a so-so transmitter site, lots of shadow areas. Denver has to be the worst major market for over the air radio due to the terrain; unlike say the WBNS tower in Columbus, Denver has no " perfect" transmitter site.

Im still shocked with the Wolfe families bank roll that they don't have 10's HD transmitter on a backup generator. I know in Denver when Channels 4,7, and 9 built a new tower a couple years back they literally built a building around a mosterous backup generator to power the entire site (all HD TV and FM radio) transmitters in the event of a outage.

One note on my home setup. Not that Im paranoid but I do have a backup, to the backup generator. If for some reason my Kohler's fail, I have a Honda inverter generator that gives me 2000 watts, and if that fails I have a inverter that plugs into my truck. BTW Kohler has some sweet deals going on now on a 20kw for under 6k that will power most homes easily with their fancy software.
