Their 93.7 signal's been off the air for a long while now. It was their only remaining station after 105.9 flipped a couple months ago. Have they finally shut down?
KevanGC said:This is a quick aircheck of 93.7 FM as of now, I didn't do any editing to this file, it's a stereo 128 KBPS MP3 file, recorded it straight off the FM signal with a Sandisk MP3 player. http://audex.in/1220
Once you hear it you'll see why I say I didn't do any editing. The audio quality is HORRIBLE! It's been like this for the past couple days.
I did call the number they said was theirs to see if they would fix it, I got a wrong number. If Radio Ola's giving out wrong numbers out on the air as well as breaking tons of FCC regulations, I don't know what to say!
Infamous said:Yeah I was listening to 93.7 for a few minutes yesterday and it does indeed sound horrible! It sounds as if they are receiving the audio via a really low bit rate stream to the transmitter site (and even then I can hear digital artifacts that sound like there is not enough bandwidth to receive it properly...what do they have? a dial up connection? lol)
I don't get it?? How can you pay so much money for a translator in San Antonio but yet you won't spend any additional money to feed audio to it correctly?? Maybe they are trying to stay under the radar since the whole claiming they are feeding it off KTNR thing is a bunch of lies anyway but seriously?? These people can't raise or generate enough money every month to afford a satellite uplink of their audio to feed their sites? It still wouldn't be legal but at least give your listeners some decent audio. It's no wonder that operation is struggling and about to fold. Who would seriously sit there and listen to that for even half an hour??
I also tuned into 93.3 and it sounds as if it's off the air. Your last post you said it sounded like dead air with the transmitter on but I was near Live Oak and Universal City when I tuned it in (and that's pretty close to the transmitter site) and all I heard was static and KGSR trying to come in way in the dirt. How can anyone go almost two months now and not have this translator back on the air? Was it because they weren't using a low power transmitter in the first place so buying a new $4000 replacement transmitter just won't work for the coverage area they want to cover? If that was my translator I would have called up the guys over at Giesler Broadcast Supply the next day, gave them my credit card number, and ordered up a brand new Nautel VS300 transmitter with UPS Red shipping to get back on the air ASAP!

KevanGC said:Some recent changes: Radio Ola 93.7 flipped as of today to bilingual (English and Spanish) Christian music, the same format that previously was on 87.75, which is now dead air. What I think happened is that Radio Ola gave up and are leasing their last signal out to the people involved in the new format.
As for KFLZ-CA 87.75, my guess is that it might become either another religious station or a simulcast of KEDA, the two stations (KEDA and KFLZ-CA) are owned by the same company right?

From what I know these are the same owners/companies. This gentleman is know for doing interesting things. 87.7 should not exist anymore after moving to digital with that LPTV.
Claro communications, B Communications, (Gerald)Jerry benavides, Alicia benavides... are all the same person
I don't know if all Hispanics intentionally break the rules. Anyone can, regardless of race. I believe it all comes down to whether they want to broadcast their stations in a legal way.dfwhisp said:Radiohead123 said:From what I know these are the same owners/companies. This applies to all hispanic low power / translator / owners that I have know to date, they all twist the rules in they favor to move / change ownership / and operate what ever they think is ok, no matter what the FCC says in the rules.
There is a guy, now consultant for some stations, that he should not be doing bussines with the FCC.... why.. No papeles, just a SS # issued back then when SS Admin issued numbers to anyone working here in, regardless of legal status, so he gets a FRN and here comes easy money...
