Radio Ola

I'm about 99% sure that K289BJ isn't even simulcasting KTNR now. Here is a stream for what I think is on KTNR 92.1, and this doesn't match up with Radio Ola's programming. At least TuneIn says it's the stream for KTNR, and I'm hearing liners for "KTNR 92.1 Kennedy", and stuff like that.
http://tunein.com/radio/KTNR-921-s35717/

Here is Radio Ola 93.7's stream so you may compare. http://174.123.30.146:8174/live.m3u

If TuneIn would let me have the real streaming link for KTNR I'd post it here, I can't get that web player to play in Firefox for some reason but it works if you launch IE or possibly something different. It also plays on TuneIn's mobile apps, I don't know what's up with Firefox, and I tried geting the actual stream link from the page but I couldn't.
I found the 93.7 stream by accident.
What I think is happening now is that the Radio Ola people are either leasing KTNR out to another group, or they sold it.

[edit] I found it after doing something hackish in IE. http://50.84.164.26:8150/index.html?sid=1

If you're running something like the "Ad Block plus" add-on with Firefox, TuneIn doesn't want to load properly. In that case you can disable Ad Block on that particular page or on the whole TuneIn site. The result is primarily a banner ad that displays, but no pop-ups. I haven't found any evidence of anything harmful by doing that.

Tried it, makes no difference in terms of most audio streams.

On an unrelated note, have the new Radio Ola website. http://www.radioolafm.com. - Found it the other day. The old one, with only one O, is now dead.

K290BO 105.9 is now off the air. I wonder what happened? Did they get taken down and fined, or perhaps Radio Ola gave up that station or sold it to someone else?
I'm not that experienced when it comes to looking at the FCC's website. I'll check if I get anti-lazy later.
However, Radio-Locator doesn't seem to show anything new. http://radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/finder?call=k290bo&x=0&y=0&sr=Y&s=C

Perhaps it's just a tech glitch. But no one listens to this channel anyway, people would much rather party on Wild two spots away. LOL.

Christmas break?

That might be it. If I were them I'd throw up a computer to play automated Christmas music though, but I wouldn't be surprised if they're desperately trying to save on utility bills.

Update: I was told that the sale of K229BJ was approved yesterday. This might be connected to that.

Just checked Radio Ola's Facebook to see if they'd say anything about the status of 93.7 and 105.9. All I found was that they changed websites, and they're now Internet only, at http://www.radiolafm.net.

Why don't they just keep one domain and use it? Probably trying to hide maybe? LOL.

Well, now K229BJ is back on the air broadcasting Spanish Christian with a few English songs mixed in. Interesting.

Audio is turned up a little too loud and distorts, and the stream at http://50.84.164.26:8000 that I posted a few days ago seems to be the one they're using to feed the transmitter, when the stream's down the FM station is dead air. It also seems they never really felt like raising the bitrate - 75 KBPS MP3? Too low.

105.9 is back now as noted in another thread.

K290BO 105.9's been on for almost a month and it's been simulcasting the 93.7 Radio Ola translator. It sounds okay except that the audio on it is totally overdriven and clips like mad. http://sndup.net/30668/d
As you can hear when the song changes the audio sounds great as the volume fades out, then goes back to the clippy crap as the next song hits.
This means that all they have to do is turn the level down to fix it, yet they still haven't done so ever since they lit up. Do they not have enough skill at broadcasting to do even this simple repair?

And as of today I checked and 105.9 seems to be broadcasting KWDA Mana 30.7 - a TV station from Dallas.
Why the heck would they broadcast someone else's TV station on a translator like 105.9? It seems to be Spanish Christian Music similar to Radio Ola but I still don't get it.

If this were my station I'd actually, you know, fix the audio on it and provide my own programming, after of course legalizing it. I know they split from 93.7 or at least that's what I've read on the San Antonio board.
Sorry but right now 105.9 just seems like some kind of a joke!

I've started too many threads pertaining to this pair of radio stations. I should really single it down to just this one, as it's the biggest... and includes all the info on the sale and that sort of thing.

One more minor change - 93.7 sounds perfect now, in stereo, all that. They could of course get a better automation system (their current one seems basic - it doesn't crossfade or anything). But as for the quality it's great, almost no overmodulation anymore!

Update: 105.9 is now rebroadcasting 93.7 again, both stations have returned to the bad sounding mono audio. 105.9 totally clips, while 93.7 sort of overmodulates.

Noticed yesterday that 105.9 has applied to change ownership from "Multimedios Radio Ola" to "Keilah Radio LLC" ..
"Keilah" is paying $120,000 for the translator ..
"Keilah" (via Carmen Carmolejo) owns translator K293BF, 106.5, in Comanche Trail, serving Austin ..
They are currently re-broadcasting the HD3 of KTXX, 104.9, Bee Cave, on 106.5, which seems to be some sort of Spanish Religious format ..

Guess Multimedios is in fact throwing out all of their stations, and you're right, 106.5 in Austin is in fact a Spanish religious station. It also does things legally as far as I know.
What HD will 105.9 broadcast assuming they do? KQXT-HD4?

Does KQXT even have an HD4 ? or a 3 for that matter ? ..

Yeah, KQXT-HD2 is smooth jazz and KQXT HD3 is powering WiLD 105.7. None of the other CC stations have HD2s or HD3s up now.

Yeah keilah radio does seem to have their stuff together based on what I've seen and heard. Hopefully they do things right and feed the 105.9 translator legally. I don't know about paying what they did for that particular translator. Based off their coverage map it doesn't cover anything. I would think 105.9 would have been worth no more then $75k where it sits now and that's being pretty generous. I guess they really wanted to get into the SA market.

Ah, OK ..
I live in NJ .. I'm only in the San Antonio area once a year, so I wasn't sure ..
So, Mix, KJ and KZEP have no HD2's ?
What happened to the ones they had ?

It does cover a lot of the market especially on the west side if you've got a good antenna, on a car radio you can pick it up all over if you know it's there. In some parts of town it fades in and out though and I doubt it'll cover the east side at all.

Well maybe it's not transmitting from the licensed site. You shouldn't be able to hear it that well from where its licensed at righ now. FYI...93.7 k229bj isn't transmitting from their licensed site. At least not when I went there a year or so back. There wasn't any FM antennas on the tower and when I went inside the building there wasn't any FM transmitting gear. You should drive by the licensed site for 105.9 and see if there's an FM antenna on that tower.
