Radio w/pictures (Channel 25 testing)

Who cares? Stop being so negative - at least they (Block Broadcasting) are being somewhat creative and innovative.
Can we say that for the other stations in town - Local 12 -oh, yes, that's a real winner!

I totally agree, ncincy. Little old Elliott got his little old station featured on the front page of the Enquirer and has created some local buzz. I say way to go! Why rain on his parade?

Remember when stations used to do crazy stuff to get free publicity? Guys in Gopher suits outside courtrooms? Guys on billboards til their team wins?? There hasn't been a radio or TV station in town that's done anything clever in a long time; these days everyone is just hoping they can keep a low enough profile not to get fired in the latest round of cutbacks.

So, telling the truth is being negative?  I hope none of you people are journalism majors.  I find it funny that Elliot Block puts out a release that he "changed" his call letters to WKRP and nobody bothers to check it out.  Even Kiesewetter posted a correction on his blog today about it.  I really don't care if the station does well or not. Changing to WKRP gets some great press, but it won't bring any viewers unless the programming changes.

The FCC doesn't care about similar call letters in a market, but stations do.

OK, I concede the point that "technically" they (WBQC/WOTH) don't have the official WKRP call letters from the FCC.
The point is that the little guys deserve a break and I (for one) am glad they got the national publicity - also helps put something good about Cincinnati in the news.
This station reminds me of the childhood story of "The Little Engine That Could". Is that really so bad?
BTW: Broadcast Speech/Journalism B.A. (1982)

Well, now wait a second, guys.

I see everyone's point here. But according to the FCC, the Tennessee station is WKRP-LP, while we have WKRP-TV. It's my understanding of the issue that they're separate classes.

I know some of you point to call letter confusion. Look at Dallas which has KDFW (started as CBS, now Fox), KDFI (had been indy since '81 as KTWS - changed to KDFI in '83, bought by Fox in '95), and KFWD (originally Telemundo in the 90s, indy since 2002). I never heard a complaint about the call letters there.

We DON'T have WKRP-TV. If that station got those calls, they would be WKRP-LD or WKRP-CA. Look up the calls on the FCC's web site. They are not licensed anywhere in Cincinnati. The station in tennessee would still have to allow another station to use them.

Matlock is correct. Let's possibly discuss what we think may be programming on 25.3 and 25.4 for this station.
Thoughts, rumors, suggestions?
I still hoping for either This TV or Retro TV for either WOTH-LD or another sub-channel in the market.

I wish there was a local LPTV station like WBQC/WOTH in Columbus. I have to rely on the live streaming broadcast on their website. There is a WCSN LPTV in C-Bus that showing infomercials from time to time. Is anyone interested to set-up a C-Bus version of WBQC/WOTH?

The Cincinnati station is not WKRP-TV. It's a Class A station with a -CA suffix - similar to a -LP from an engineering standpoint but with additional obligations and privileges.

Now, as I understand it, WKRP-LP and WKRP-CA would be two different stations; ISTR a case where there are a -LP and a -CA version of the same calls in different cities, but can't find it right now.

But the Cincinnati station has not changed call letters. It's still WBQC-CA in the FCC database: (and WBQC-CD for the digital)

Does anyone know if Channel 25 can be pick up using a outdoor amplified TV Antenna? Some nights I can pick up the audio of the analog feed Fox19 in Cincy when the local Daystar affiliate turn off their tower for maintenance.
