Rally for former the Q105 Jocks!

Regarding the VT'ing... i just went to their website since they have in studio cameras. I can only see one webcam (cant get the other two to open) and while the camera isnt on the mid-day guy, I did see him walk in and out of the studio. so it would seem that he is not VT'ing.
Funny thing is the still picture of camera 2 looks like it is Marvin with his face blocked by the mike.

OH! My bad... he just announced he was live at some restaurant. the guy walking in and out of the studio sure looked like his picture from the web!

Attention Baby Boomers! This is very sad. I realize you loved Q105 passionately, but it's time to turn the page. In the grand scheme of things, a few of your favorite disc jockeys not being on the air anymore does not warrant a "rally". Look at the world around you, do something productive like volunteer or mentor or help those less fortunate.

While your attempt to get Krampf to 'listen' to your demands is done from the heart, it's pathetic and not much more than a waste of time and effort. Radio has changed a lot since the 1950's. The industry was hurting before the economic downturn and continues to shrink daily. Companies today simply can not afford a full stable of air talent.

Welcome to the 21st Century, there's room for you here.

I spent 40 years in social services in both rural NC and the inner cities of Richmond and St.Pete. I got caught in 2 downsizings along with a lot of other staff. Nobody suggested a rally for downsized social workers. I think I paid my dues and if I want to get unglued about Q----It's my party and I'll cry if I want too.

REDRIVERG - I have volunteered at nursing homes, the SPCA, The Haven for the Homeless, Florida International Museum for 6 or 7 exhibits and this weekend will be my 2nd time volunteering at a SuperBowl so don't tell me I haven't put my time into worthwhile projects. There was nothing wrong with Q105 that needed fixing and it can't just be me judging by the number of posts. I am passionate about it along with quite a few others it seems. Since you have "better things to do" then we won't look for you there.

If I had grown up in the past 10 years, I would have spent my nights on Facebook or MySpace talking to people around the world. People would be talking back to me in multiple chatrooms. I grew up in the Fifties and my parents old Victrolia consol was my key to the outside. I DX'ed ( didn't know the word then) all over the country. I fell in love with the man on the radio . I really liked the guys who played the music I also loved and I fell in love with how they did it. My "friends" did not know me, but they knew what I wanted. I was one of "Brucie's cousins" and I had friends all over at WABC,WLS, WKBW, WCFL, WKYC, WBZ, and right at home on KDKA and KQV. I guess this is really bogus considering the electronic community of today. WRBQ seemed like an old friend asking me to dance the last slow one of the night. WRBQ was an opportunity to be there again . WRBQ was the big glass ball at the club. Unless you were around then, I guess you might not get it. Radio was our community. All the kids were all right when the did the Bristol Stomp on Boss Radio. I suggest that if all you on the Geek Squad don't get it--------cool-------bring up your own topics analyzing the X or something like that.

Forgot the really big guy. I spent many a night parked by the Allegheny River doing stuff with John R. helping it to happen as he blasted blues on WLAC. Can't believe so many of them are gone. These guys were the voice of my young time and the Sounds of Silence are moving in. Heard that song in 65. Now I know what it meant. When you see Paul Simon today, ya know getting old is a B***H.

I think everyone realizes that this "rally" will not get the jocks their old jobs back but rather it is a chance to see them again and convey the fans' love for them. There won't be another Q105 remote at Ferman with JoJo or turkey bowling with Bill at Royal Rug, or The Hurricane's Disco night with Marvin, or Mugs N Jugs with Mike Reeves..... this is a chance to visit, one again, with their favorite jocks.

This is very well put, Ms MR. I am a child of the 60's, and remember Cousin Brucie and Harry Harrison, the Morning Mayor. Rambling with Gambling, Jean Shepherd, and all the great WNEW-FM jocks. Even up in the New Haven area where I grew up, we had WELI-AM and WAVZ-AM with local personalities and LOCAL NEWS. (As an eight-year-old, I read stories from the newspaper into my tape recorder and pretended I was a newscaster on WAVZ. I actually became a radio newscaster about 18 years later.) During my teen years I connected to local jocks Stoneman and Bob Dark on WPLR-FM in New Haven. Radio was personal, local, and even metaphysical.

Sadly, that type of radio is almost gone, destroyed by the big conglomerates whose only concern is Mammon.

Marvelous Marvin Boone will be at the rally playing the music for us! Come on out and have some fun and great food!
