Forums over at xmfan.com are buzzing with reports that big lineup changes are coming next week. The buzz has been stirred by announcements of new XM channels at directv.com and by an entry in a blog on the Cincinnati Enquirer site by that newspaper's radio/TV writer.
Rumored to be coming to XM, at least on DirecTV: Music channels featuring "chill" electronica, '80s and '90s classic rock ("where Top Tracks leaves off") and current-hits-oriented hip-hop and r&b. The Enquirer blogger reports that XM will be adding a simulcast of WLW Cincinnati (Clear Channel's blowtorch AM talker) on Channel 173, minus sports programming to which XM doesn't have the rights. That last item is interesting because it's appeared nowhere else, as far as I can tell, including the Enquirer itself!
Reportedly out: XM Music Lab, which plays a mix of progressive rock and jam band music. It doesn't appear in DirecTV's new lineup at all.
