That certainly is his best known vocal performance and it's very impressive...

"Take it to the Limit" was one of my faves by them, as well. We even played it on country radio, although I don't know how "country" it really was.
There was always a big discussion as to whether the Eagles were a crossover band or not. Then someone mentioned "Country Rock" and the issue was moot.
What a versatile and talented group of guys!
His solo hit "Hearts on Fire" could pass for country, but I don't know if they played that or not.
He was no longer with them when that song came out in 1979. He left them after Hotel Califonia
"Take It to the Limit" has been a part of standards radio for years.
Also on the subject of standards, Frey has done actual standards which were played on WLML.
And Serenade Radio just played "Desperado". I looked it up and Meisner played bass and did backup vocals.
