Rangers going to ESPN?

If this is confirmed to be true, where will Rangers games be bumped to during Mavericks playoff conflicts? Remember that ABC no longer owns WBAP or KSCS. Can you imagine Rangers baseball on Radio Disney? :)

conflicts will go either to KAAM or 1480 ESPN Deportes

Aren't Citadel and ABC still "in bed together"? Dontcha think a deal could be worked out where WBAP could carry the conflicting games?

This is bad news for The Fan. The Rangers were the only reason they got a ratings boost last month. If they lose the Cowboys too then they're finished.

Just imagine what will happen if there is an NFL lockout next year. The Super Bowl at the Death Star could be the last NFL football we see for some time.

Oh well, we still have TCU! Go Frogs!!!

This sucks for the people who listen to the games on the radio...

Their signal is horrible at times! I was listening to a mavs game last week and every 13 seconds it would cut out for 2 seconds, was like that the entire time I attempted to listen. Without fail, every 13 seconds it would cut out for 2 before it came back on.

Big mistake for the Rangers. Can you even receive 103.3 in the ballpark?

From the FCC database, the ballpark is less than one mile inside the 103.3 60 dBu contour. Good luck trying to listen from your seat.

105.3 did one thing right, home games were in stereo. And sounded cool especially on a car radio.

I wonder how much Bristol is paying to get the Rangers?

No chance WBAP will carry any Rangers game after what happened with TCU

Not just at the ballpark, but the southern Metroplex will be screwed too, by the
northern rimshot signal of KESN Allen.

Hey Nolan, I don't think the Rangers can go another niiinne innings with this signal.

Or why not just put the games on 870...1190...1270...1360...1540... ;)

I suppose the signal is an issue, but I've never had a problem getting 103.3 as I drive around Dallas.

Removing that from the debate for a moment, let's consider the overall strengths and weaknesses of the two stations.

KESN has been around longer as a sports station than The Fan. They've had the Mavericks games for many years now and seem to have done well with them.

The Rangers were on KRLD-AM for a long time before The Fan came along. Then the games got split between the two stations all throughout the season. I think that was probably annoying to the team.

The newest ratings show the two stations with almost identical ratings. Going from one to the other should not effect the reach of the games that much. Having the games on one frequency for pretty much every game of the season with a more established station is probably worth making the change.

Just say that The Rangers are tired of being second fiddle on KRLD-FM, they are still second fiddle on KESN. Plus they would be second fiddle on a station during a critical time in late October.

The possibly conflicting games on 660 are on other frequencies as well...

A select number of regular season Rangers games will be carried in the DFW area by KSKY 660 AM, also broadcasting 24/7 on 92.9, 95.5, and 99.9 FM, due to programming conflicts on 103.3 ESPN. At present, there are two regular season games affected by conflicts during the first month of the 2011 season.
