Thanks to those of you that agree with me about JRR. With Real Radio 104.1 continuing to trend down from where they once were and the potential short term spike WJRR is seeing, aside from Rumba and a resurgence of XL, the Clear Channel group is in trouble... (Has anyone even bothered to notice the WMGF numbers? They're ruining Magic 107.7 by piping in John Tesh 10 hours a day.)
As far as Cox and WHTQ goes, I've said it before and I'll say it again... the station sounds tired and has so for years, but now they've got a tremendous opportunity to step up and be a killer rock station. Why they're not taking a cue from what's happening over on the coast I don't know. Cox rockers 102.5 The Bone, 97X, and older demo skewing 107.3 The Eagle are crushing (all be it 1 book) Clear Channel's 98Rock in Tampa Bay. Trust me when I say this... with careful and well programmed rock on 96.5 and 98.9 combined with the area's #1 country station K-92 and #1 talk station 580 WDBO, Cox will own the 25-54 male demo.
PS... Look for 103.1 WLOQ to pass Magic 107 in the coming books due to a Deliah/Tesh overload. You heard it here FIRST.
