Sometimes this is just too easy. Next thing you'll throw in Hubert H. Humphrey because HHH is just two letters away from KKK. You simply can't bring yourself to admit you-know-who is really one of your "good ol' boys." I assume your next post, like some of his, will assert that your opponents are lacking in testosterone.

Actually when I think of HHH, I think of the wrestler.

At the start of a new year, I'm looking back and fondly remembering the days when participants on this board actually discussed radio. :)

The egos of the members are worse than the ego of the dude running it! Yeah, happy new year.

No. "Bigotry at its finest" a station presenting itself as a Black radio station (or trying to be coy by using the euphemism "urban"). What would happen if somebody decided to call themselves a White radio station? Or talk about programming for "the White community?"

It's also bigotry (not at its finest) to associate bad music with a particular race.

Urban represents all listeners of all races in a city. I worked in Urban radio. Calling it Black radio in the 70's and early 80's left out a major portion of non black listeners. There are white artists on the urban stations.. I worked for WQMG Fm Greensboro..in '84-'85 ..and WJAX FM '85-'86 before it changed to WAPE FM Which would have been called a Churban at the time.. Programmers..mistaken the race of their listeners all the time .. Two White men owned the one in Greensboro..and bunch of lawyers owned WJAX At the time..

Good catch tgunn I didn't notice that. See, since we are talking about stations that make great moves for their markets I thought by calling them black stations that it meant they were in the black, as in much better than the red stations.

Switching to WAPE from ubran WJAX was such a great move back then. Most people would say don't mess with a station with a 7 share, well they did, flipped to chr and got a 20 share!

Chr has never been about kids, and urban has never been about just serving people of one skin color. That has been known for over 30 years.....
