Just look at this: The ratings for KQL may just be true and for it to turn 2.0 that is better than it was when it was Arrow but Gator siting at .7 is off. They made the move to Jax during the middle of the sweep which throws their ratings off by a couple of points. I look for KQL to be at anywhere from a 2.5 to 4 by the end of the year flanking some of the othher stations. EJZ flanking for Hot AC? It could happen. Also look at Gator may become their cash cow. We will know in about four months won't we? They have a whole lot of listners who are mad at CC right now. CC is just bunch of a trash. When you look at Rooster most of their jocks look like they should be playing Top 40. You can even hear it in their voices. Now QIK they have the country attitude but not like Gator. Gator knows that Jacksonville likes country music and people want a station with more music and less commericals (means more up time then down time).

Renda will proablay change 94.1 to Star 94.1 when it moves to Jacksonville in about 1 to 1 and half years. Just my guess. Hey it least will have RDS when it does unlike now.

Remember this trend was March- April May. WGNE didn't start to May 2 so you can't really look at this trend. Also with WKQL up .6 12+ is preety good considering no jocks or marketing.

I know that was good for WKQL with out any jocks or no marketing. What could have drawed more listners was that an oldies station was in town and it was playing the music they want and with out to much of the talk. Also those remotes they have had may have drawed more listners when they found out that 100.7 became the oldies station. If Briggs keeps it jockless and the numbers keep going up then Renda may have done right by going with the format. Eventually I do expect some jocks on their.

As for Gator I know they came late and thats why the ratings are off. Since their first full three months to be survey want start until after August I am sure they will improve greatly. Do not be suprised if they are the biggest jumper in the Summer ratings.

Renda Ratings

You guys' favorite song from the '70s must have been "I Like Dreamin'" by Kenny Nolan. I appreciate your optimism but you're either being cooked by your hot FL sun or you work for Renda down there and are wishing for the best (or more).

WKQL up to a 4.0 by year's end? Man, I'll take that bet every day.

Oldies jut keep your old self in Detroit and don't worry about Jacksonville. WKQL going up .6 is a great start. WHY are you so damn negative. Did Tony Renda fire you or were you never hired by him.

Renda Ratings

I'm not nearly as negative as some of you are blindly positive. You ask me about getting fired by Renda- your posts appear as if you have stock in Renda Broadcasting (or at least get a paycheck from them).

I noted no responses to the other thread's comment about Jacksonville ratings because it was TRUE. That .6 skyrocket got them all the way past WZAZ-AM's religious programming (good for a leap from 17th to 16th)- they're below a 2 share in adults.

And, don't blame me for echoing what many others on this board- just looking at things as they are, not as some with rose-colored glasses wish they were.

(BTW- if we had a Detroit board I'd be there a lot. Top 10 market, no board.
We have to take a back seat to Altoona/State College PA) <lol>

Re: Renda Ratings

If you were fired by Tony Renda, consider yourself lucky and if you quite you are some smart bastard. Either way you win! LOL If you still work for Renda, you'll see.

WEJZ is Renda’s Jacksonville moneymaker period. While KOOL, GATOR & WSOS all have potential, right now they are Renda’s money losers. Until Renda’s new stations begin to click and generate positive cash-flow WEJZ must receive most of the marketing resources. Unlike Clear Channel who makes every resource available to their market managers, Renda’s slower mom and pop approach leaves Bill Schull with fewer bullets to shoot. That means no $100,000.00 TV ad campaigns or cash giveaways are in the near future for Renda’s newest stations. Unfortunately, it means a slower gorilla approach to marketing and potential ratings. The Country story in Jacksonville is going to be a blood bath, and with three competitors going head to head it will take much more than playing music with fewer commercials to build a successful country radio station.

Re: Renda Ratings

The blood bath has started and Renda is doing that. I know Rooster is fighting but some blood has already been drawn out of its own mascot by Gator. Gator knows it going to have be more music and less commericals. Just think about Gator started their commerical free music sweep in the morning first, then Rooster bounds to follow. Gator clamis to play the most music, then Rooster goes on to say they do. Whos telling the truth here? Gator. Renda is going to have Rooster dead soon. Lets just watch this battle begin. It may just be the best one Jacksonville has ever seen in radio history.

Re: Renda Ratings

Unfortunately, diary keepers and Arbitron placement will decide Jacksonville’s collective country futures. Renda and Clear Channel folks, buckle-up for safety it’s going to be a bumpy ride to the very end.

I agree Rooster is taking on water, but when I compare Rooster to Gator they both sound similar & music intensive and I’m the typical person allowing 5 to 30 minutes of listening time. I know the jocks and playlist are different, but both stations sound like they’re beating the same drum and that’s not good. Sure Gator is playing less commercials now, but that won’t last long with their predicted ratings spike and victory over Rooster or WQIK.

We know one country station will be forced to flip and that’s not half either, because it leaves a whole wide open and an opportunity for a new format like jack or even talk Fm.
