Ratings?

No doubt that country music is hot...in fact...lot of it is crossing over....Keith Urban...Faith Hill...Tim McGraw...I think what we are saying is that alot of the mainstream stations all sound alike. But lets face it there is nothing new...nothing exciting...everything old is new again. If you are from the area....you listen to KRZ or BHT when you are in your teens....then graduate to Magic for your adults years...before moving on to WILK Talk radio in your senior years.

I resent that---I grew up here, I'm in my "senior years" and I listen to nothing but the Mountain---unless I have to drive my wife's car for some reason. I HATE talk radio.

Sorry...please don't be offended..Rockin' Seniors Listen to Mountain...I hate talk radio too. I am still in my Magic years....but I am slowly moving to WVIA...(so I can be an elder and A snob at the same time).

If you're consistently listening to Magic you may already be in your senior years. Frankie is like letting the scoutmaster play the records.

WVIA? Left-wing crybaby global warming give us money even though we now practically have commercials tree-hugging whiners. Those listeners minds are in neutral.

Froggy? Listeners are lucky they can't realize how insulted their intelligence is listening to that. Music that is closer than any other kind of music to just flat out calling itself product.

The Mountain? You people don't really think there are mountain guides and a real mountain though, right? I mean, sure they go to the 3rd level of deep cuts in an album and it reminds you of when you had a bong and all, but are you really so easily duped?

WILK? Weakest part of the local day is mornings, by far. Sue Henry is intelligent and funny at times, best thing on the station. Syndicated content? Love him or hate him, Rush is the king of what he does. Hannity, a little bit boring. O'Reilly, okay. Love Michael Savage for the same reason I like Rush. Entertaining.

Talk radio far outdistances any music format for entertainment. Unless you want to hear Rod Stewart several times a day and you need to set your watch, then it has some purpose.

And I still love Gary Chrisman's voice...he is the best of the best in Williamsport and just about anywhere.

Nice to see Gary mentioned here. Not only great pipes, but funny, entertaining, and on top of everything. He recently celebrated the 30th anniversary of the Chrisman Show, although those 30 years were divided between two different stations in Williamsport. Gary started at WWPA(mid-days), which became known as Twin W Radio, or more popularly, The Twin. Great little radio station; full-service AC complete with a news department. From there, he took the show over to WKSB-FM(morning drive) where it continues to pretty much own Williamsport radio. The guy has the talent to have easily written his own ticket to any major, but chose to stay in his hometown and enjoy life. Gary is also half of about the greatest PPB team I have ever heard. He and Ken Sawyer doing LLB World Series is nothing short of sensational, and I've always been surprised that no network has tried to grab them. They are really THAT good.

Hey Master! Williamsport radio. Whew! Just made me think of Dan DeMuro. Anybody know where he is now?

No, sorry, can't say that I do know . But Dan was part of that trio of Gilbert-Durkin-DeMuro that created the legend that is now KISS-FM(WKSB).

Was WKSB owned by Stainless Broadcasting at that time? Was that in the mid70s?

How about gem 107 making the arbitron books?Despite the signal people still love the 60's and 70's.

Hey, thanks for noticing Gem 107.7 Ceasar. We were happy to see that we made it into the ratings book...and I think there are much greater things on the way too! We're having a ton of fun with Gem.

Stainless did own what was originally WRAK-AM/FM. The transformation into WKSB/KISS occurred, I'm inclined to say, around 1980-81. Any other Williamsport radio vets around this board?

It's a great format. Glad we get it in Wilkes Barre. And despite the snap, crackle and pop of WARM, have that on the dial too.

I agree. Spent some time in Wyoming County a few weeks ago and had the pleasure !
