Raul Brindis fired?

Piolin's demise has been greatly exaggerated. He may not be morning royalty anymore, but he does well for himself in middays as a companion piece for Alex Lucas's morning show in most places.
He has gone from a multi-million dollar a year morning star to what is basically a glorified DJ salary at a company that never pays large salaries.

piolins demise really comes from the bad rep during the lawsuit and Univision did not help by firing him. But still, is a name very much used in the industry. will be interesting to see what happens when Renan el Cucuy announces what stations he will be airing the show on.

Hardly. Piolín is barely thought of outside of LA, and even there he is 22nd over the last 4 books in the target Hispanic demo.

Renán was last popular about two decades... a whole generation... ago. His core listenership back then was 30-49, meaning that those fans are now over 50 now and outside the demo of Spanish agency buys.

Shows that you have never done radio. Raul will be back soon. Not on KLTN but he will be back .
Where can he go in Houston that he will be big enough as he was on KLTN? KLOL? Cause other than that all these small rimshots or translators are little bugs on Televisaunivison windshield. And I doing see any other radio stations flipping to anything just to see Raul.

I would guess 92.1 is the wild card here if SBS ever actually closes on its purchase. But who knows what they have in mind for a new format, and as mentioned earlier, Raul might have aged out of any target audience.

The thing is that SBS already has a successful morning host of its own, Terry "El Terrible" Cortez.

I don't think SBS has an afternoon show on WLEY, do they? If they don't, Raul Brindis could slip right into that time slot, if he's okay with it.

Still my point exactly he would be in a small company nothing compared to TELEVISAUNIVISION.

David, what happened to Piolín's career? I know he was accused of certain things, but how does a guy who was syndicated in every major market fall like that? I remember back in the mid 2000s he was the biggest name in radio. His reach even went as far to Washington DC when he would organize immigration rallys. Was he simply another victim of PPM exposing the flaws of the diaries? Was the controversy too much for his image? Did he fail to keep up with changing trends?

He achieved popularity by being fun and funny. He suddenly went into politics and was not entertaining any more.

Remember, the bulk of his listeners were not citizens, so that whole subject was irrelevant and boring.

Chicago is the third largest Hispanic market of the three that SBS has regional Mexican formats in. Raúl was tried in the past in LA and San Francisco and did not work. In fact, outside of South Texas, his show did not perform well anywhere and that is well known.

Well where ever Raul ends up I hope he brings back Pepitos character. The Ardillo (squirrel) personality character isnt as funny as Pepito was.

KLOL Flipping to Mexican regional "El Patron" and adding Brindis to the morning show would be a good idea.
You want to change a station that is pretty much tied as the #1 Spanish language biller in the market for a format that already has 3 competitors and will have another in a month or two?

“In a month or two”? Is SBS planning an LMA of KROI to get a format launched before the supposed July 2024 closing previously announced?

BTW KROI is still running the “We’re moving!” redirect announcements for the Praise format that have been airing for almost seven months.

I'm assuming that the "delay" in closing was set at a maximum and allows sooner action if possible.

And likely they will not spend a penny more on production until the sale closes.

Has anyone wondered why, if Raúl is "fully fired", KLTN is still running his show via recorded segments from the past?

I know that they're getting the new member of El Bueno, La Mala y El Feo ready for her January 4th debut, but you'd think they would only run music in the mornings until then.
