RE-Wired 96.5

Reasons why Wired 96.5 WRDW-FM should flip to an alternative rock format before the Winter Arbitron Book starts on Thursday December 15.

1. Wired 96.5 is experiencing sinking ratings and shares. It is currently one of the lowest rated stations on the Philly FM Dial.
2. Howard Stern will be gone which means a better chance to steal audience.
3. Wired 96.5 have let go many staff and are letting the public program the radio station with user submitted play lists. Wired calls this “pod casting”. See link: http://www.wired965.com/contest_wiredpodcast.php
4. There is now only one full time current rock station in Philadelphia (WMMR). No station is serving the huge modern rock audience in Philadelphia. Huge concerts sell out with little to no promotion from the radio stations. Wired 96.5 competes with three other stations. NO COMPETITION FOR ALT ROCK IN PHILLY.
5. The demand is there and the time is right. Many former Y100 Employees and volunteers at Y100Rocks are available.
6. Wired 96.5 employs so many former faces at Y100 from the GM down.
7. Beasley already has a dance format on HD. Why not make their main format alt rock and continue to broadcast the current format and the dance format on HD Radio and online.

Feel free to add reasons why or why not Wired 96.5 should flip.

I changed it a bit and moved it.

We will ever hear "Alive" on Re-Wired 96.5? I submitited my podcast. If 96.5 goes alt rock the last song played should be "Candy Shop" by 50 Cent
(The First Song Played when The Beat took over 100.3 MHz FM) and Philadelphia's new rock station should start with the last song played on Y100 straight down this playlist...

1. Pearl Jam - Alive
2. Blur - Song 2
3. Theory of a Deadman - Say Goodbye
4. The Strokes - Juicebox
5. System of a Down - Hypnotize
6. Static-X - Dirthouse
7. Cold - A Different Kind of Pain
8. Trapt - Stand Up
9. Taproot - Birthday (haha Wired 96.5's two year Birthday)
10. Bloc Party - Two More Years (How Ironic)
11. 311 - Speak Easy (about the format slip)
12. Thousand Foot Krutch - Move
13. Revelation Theory - Slowburn
14. My Morning Jacket - Off The Record
15. The Darkness - One Way Ticket
16. 10 Years - Wasteland (Radio was for so long)
17. Staind - It's Been Awhile (Live)
18. Roadrunner United - The End (or a new beginning)

I get more idiotic nicknames from people on this board.

WIRED may flip. But no one wants to hear your reasoning for it again. And if it does flip I doubt it'll be to an Alt/Active rocker.

What you're doing is what sane people call "Grasping at straws"<P ID="edit"><FONT class="small">Edited by SCRHack on 12/13/05 09:29 PM.</FONT></P>

Re: Mr. Michael Klein update us

Sorry to burst your bubble but I gave my reasons because a poster on this board asked me to.

Since you say Wired may flip, what format do you think the station will flip to?

I hate it when my name gets brought into things...

I'm glad you took the initiative to answer my query, but a couple of things:

(1) You really didn't have to start a new thread; unless you really just wanted to keep returning attention to the nearly one year old "saga" of the R1/Y100 "ordeal," in which case I then understand. Give it a break.

(2) You didn't answer my question at all. You regurgitated well-known fact and used it to make a very weak case for the return of alternative rock to Philadelphia. I could use the same facts to make a weak argument for the rise of polka/Celtic chant/ocean sounds on Philadelphia radio. Give us logical reasoning, (cautiously) dare say insight, into why you think the Beaze will flip Wired to alt.

Please spare us the same whine over and over again. We all know that you've been disenfranchised and disillusioned by the radio, and trust us, you're not the only one.<P ID="signature">______________

Re: Mr. Michael Klein update us

They might not pull a full fledged flip right away but if people request alternative music that is not usually on their playlist they just might play it and slowly ween their station sound to something new. Maybe they hire a new Program Director and get the ship sailing once again.

The only ship that is sailing is the one to crazy town. Bring on the Celtic Oceanic Chanting Monks!

(Who subsequently will be doing the Polka.)<P ID="edit"><FONT class="small">Edited by SCRHack on 12/13/05 10:21 PM.</FONT></P>

HAHA That's great. So what is your take on what the Beaze is going / going to do with Fired 96.5?

Tweak the playlist to Top 40 go head up with Q. Or do nothing and continue to fail. It COULD go Active Rock but more than likely wont. Hell maybe they'll even go hot talk to go against YSP. It probably wont be soon and it probably won't be as drastic as you think.

Re: Mr. Michael Klein update us

Why are the radio stations in this market so hesitant to take on the modern rock / alternative format?

For some insane reason this thread makes me hear Steve Perry singing "The wheels in the sky keep on turning" and turning, and turning, and turning....I was not the biggest Y listener, but I didn't want to see it go either, but it is beyond time to let it go! E-Gil Roman Numeral 106, you have the knack for slapping some people on this board with a plain, straight-forward reality check, but some people will never learn.

Tuesday night I heard Kannon "with a K" make a an announcement at the end of his backsell, he said "Wired 96.5 is Podcasting, and we're the only ones doing it!" That of course is garbage, they are the only ones asking their listeners to submit playlists, and that is what they call podcasting. He's such a jackass.
