The movin/rhythmic ac format that brings in the most desirable demos on the planet is not a dance format. Dance music is not viable enough to be put on a full market signal. This format is rhythmic classics mixed with the appropriate non ghetto shoulder leaning sound rhythmic product of today like PCD, Rhianna, BEP, Neyo, Usher ETC. This is a format that when done right can be #1 with women 25-44.

They have tried in the past to force feed this demo oppressed male whimp rock/hairy neo-hippie lesbo rock and it has failed, even though billions have been blown/wasted on advertising agencies with agendas who have given these stations ads that they never deserved (star LA). Finally they can place the ads on stations that actually appeal to the demo, although they might be kicking and screaming, they have to get back to doing what they are paid to do.

His latest song is pure mainstream, one of the best testing songs with women in the desired demos. It doesn't matter what you think or I think, what they think is all that matters.

JerseyGuy, have you ever heard Ne-Yo before? He is FAR from ghetto. It is PURE R&B. I would hope you aren't making an assumption based on his name. If fact, he was back up for Alicia Keys quite often in the past. Do you think Alicia Keys is "as ghetto as it gets"?

I have to agree with Bigolbooty, Ne-Yo is a fresh new artist who is actually a songwriter and producer, having written songs for Mario (You Should Let Me Love You).

Not at all, I have an anti-crap bias. I hate oppressed male lib rock, and I hate hairy neo-hippie lezbo rock. I like good quality rock music, which we haven't heard for almost 20 years now, well maybe some very few exceptions.

As you have seen I'm a true conservative so therefore I'm all about fairness and objectivity. I stood up for a few of the pro rockers here when the sissy libs called them racists just for not liking rhythmic music. I prefer rock music over everything else, but I admit that there has not been one rocker over the last 10 years who is half as creative and talented as ne-yo. As long as rock is dominated by oppressed male libs whining or just screaming about how depressed they are, it will continue to suck.

Yes, rock in 2006 leaves a lot to be desired. But, don't forget, music is cyclical. Sure, it might take a while for the pendulum to swing back to the rock side, but as long as the suits shove the other stuff down our throats, it doesn't seem imminent.

And I'm sorry I jumped at you. You seem intelligent and well-informed.

Yes, while I don't care for dance/rap/hip-hop I am impartial. With that being said, there's too many stations, much like the urbans, that are targetting females. If I saw a hole for it, I would be on its bandwagon with a megaphone!

As far as oppressed male lib rock, is this popular (admittedly waning) because this is what society has projected upon us in TV shows and commercials, in as far as role reversals from 20 years ago (where, nowadays, the male is portrayed as inept, clumsy, and needs to be bailed out by either a woman or a monority. Further, the wife is now shown as the head of household, not the husband)?

The new rock groups that are coming out are pretty good I've been finding myself searching out Panic! At the Disco and the Rancounteurs it's coming back cause rap music has gotten cocky being up top... no one tries anything any more (til Kayne drops a new album) it's just the same stuff. I think we may see rock on the up swing again.
