When a talk station takes on regular sports broadcasts you have to expect
the occasional pre-emption like that. So on ML King Day, the Celts were on
instead of Howie but that's OK--just tune to 1280 and hope you can pick
him up on WEIM...Or, big local news story and you want to hear what WBZ's
talk hosts have to say about it--instead it's "shot, SCORE!!!"
When WRKO got the Celts contract, instead of WEEI, you knew the problem
of Sox-Celts conflicts was solved. Additionally Entercom figured that
Celts fans would hear the promos for the various 'RKO shows and maybe tune
in. One reason TV networks get the Super Bowl, Olympics, etc. (and maybe it's
a minor reason) is to have people see promos for their shows. And Entercom
might feel _not_ pre-empting its local sports talk (Planet Mikey) on WEEI,
having the Green Team move to 'RKO, would be wiser...
Yes WABC does come in fairly well even on a cheap clock radio. That's one
way to solve that.<P ID="signature">______________
