....UNTIL last night! Turned in to enjoy one of the only saving graces of 680 "The Matt Drudge Show". You guessed it! A FOOKIN' BASKETBALL game at 11:00 on a Sunday night!! I'd say the straw that broke the camel's back, BUT, the 'friggin camel has been bar-b-qued at this point!.... un-effn-beliveable!

Try 770 - WABC comes in like a local 'round heah at nite.

When a talk station takes on regular sports broadcasts you have to expect
the occasional pre-emption like that. So on ML King Day, the Celts were on
instead of Howie but that's OK--just tune to 1280 and hope you can pick
him up on WEIM...Or, big local news story and you want to hear what WBZ's
talk hosts have to say about it--instead it's "shot, SCORE!!!"

When WRKO got the Celts contract, instead of WEEI, you knew the problem
of Sox-Celts conflicts was solved. Additionally Entercom figured that
Celts fans would hear the promos for the various 'RKO shows and maybe tune
in. One reason TV networks get the Super Bowl, Olympics, etc. (and maybe it's
a minor reason) is to have people see promos for their shows. And Entercom
might feel _not_ pre-empting its local sports talk (Planet Mikey) on WEEI,
having the Green Team move to 'RKO, would be wiser...

Yes WABC does come in fairly well even on a cheap clock radio. That's one
way to solve that.
______________

have you considered sending Jason Wolfe your resume?

You love RKO so much maybe you should become Howie's next producer???

just a thought.

Drudge is on 630AM WPRO too

Not sure where you are, but I'm in southern Mass (where the RKO signal is not-existant after dark) and Drudge is on WPRO 630AM out of Providence, and it was on last night. They don't stream, unfortunately.

So?
What's wrong with running a Basketball game?

ha--well, actually I like 'RKO _kinda_ between 9 am-3 pm (Depetro & Rush,
good in small doses) and I really like them when Howie's on, but Taste,
Savage, and Noory aren't quite what I like (in which case I tune in to
_small doses of Severin_, then Ingraham, on 'TKK). Just offering a theory
on why Celts wound up on 'RKO
______________

True but you do have some talk stations with _some_ sports. WBZ, certainly,
and remember when the Sox were on 'RKO? WRKO "Talks A Great Game" (their ads at the time)
______________

WRKO was really a superior station back then.

"WAS" is the operative word here!

Of the listening audience to RKO what percentage would you say actually sit and listen to the Celtics on radio? I'm guessing there's a very small percentage so I don't understand why the rest of us have to put up with this nonsense, this week the Celts were on the west coast, that's why the games started at 8 or 8:30 and ran past 11, thus losing Savage, Drudge, etc.
