Rebecca Black - Friday?

Are any stations playing this abomination of a song? The song is an internet sensation and I can't imagine CHR won't pick it up.

I saw a story/interview ABC News did about her. She's actually got a nice voice (listen to the part where she does the Star-Spangled Banner). And yes, the song is BAD! Blame this on the morons that wrote and produced the song and screwed up her voice. I think the girl herself is taking a lot of unneccessary abuse. She's 13 years old. I don't think she's making too many of her career decisions at this point.

did she listen to the lyrics of the song before she sang them? and my favorite part where she's contemplating where to sit, there's only one spot so why are you thinking about it like it's some life changing decision?! And what 13 yr old drive a car and the big dude driving the car rapping its hilarious.

Unfortunately, the more people keep talking about how bad this is, the more exposure she will get. Just ask William Hung and Ted Williams.

The song itself reminds me a lot of an early 2000s Vanessa Carlton song. It isn't really THAT bad nor is it much different than most of the teen pop that has come out in the past decade. Its the abhorrent lyrics that kill it. If it actually had good lyrics I can see it being a big hit.

I STRONGLY AGREE.

"Whip my hair" was MUCH better than this.

My favorite part is when she talks about yesterday was Thursday, today is Friday tomorrow is Saturday and "Sunday comes afterwooooords", AND then the rapper comes in talking about "I be Rebecca Black" then proceeds to rap and talk about a school bus in front of him and a car passing by the side...

As a matter of fact, it would be very interesting if this song made it to the radio....

But I agree - the girl herself isn't bad and really has singing talent and potential. I will discontinue my music boycott and protesting, encourage people to start listening to music again, quit starting small fires, and apologize to the people who's cars I've overturned so far.... but I'm sure once they hear the song they'll understand why I tipped over their car and offer to help me overturn some cars as well.

To be 100% honest, I do think that, whether accidentally or intentionally, this could be a perfect promotional technique because this has already gained her an audience, or "fans". Now, if she wants to, all she really has to do is work on something with decent lyrics and production. It's obvious that she herself would not turn out to be a bad singer - with the right producers backing her up. However, if she releases another song with lyrics and a video equally as silly as this one, then it could backfire. She's gained a following, and so far, no one genuinely hates her. She can easily surprise and wow people with a decent follow up song.

Four things are possible from a musical point of view at this point;

1. She does an outstanding follow up song that captures all her current followers by surprise and helps her take off in music.

2. She does a better song, but it's not so remarkable that her current "fans" want to stick around. It's only good enough to make people think "well she's not that bad after all" and leave her alone, but at the same time it's not enough to make people continue to follow her because it wasn't all that great, and she's also not funny and entertaining anymore. Her fame fades & ends.

3. She quits music and is completely forgotten, music-wise

4. She does another song that is just as silly and it either gets old very quickly or backfires on her.

Honestly, I think this could do something on pop if it weren't for the ridiculous lyrics (especially "fun fun fun fun..." and the part about Saturday coming after Friday, Sunday coming after Saturday...) - with these lyrics, they can probably only market it to the Disney radio network ;D

It goes to show how bad these lyrics really are when people are now saying songs like "Whip My Hair" and anything by Justin Bieber are lyrical masterpieces.

The funniest thing is...this 13 year old kid didn't even write it - it was written by two guys (I'm assuming adults, but not sure)

After hearing about this song (snippets) and video on a local talk show about the worst song recorded, and then reading about here on Radio-info.....I thought I check out the video on You Tube. I've heard and seen worse. Alot worse. MTV, Jerry Springer, ET, Cheaters...etc. this is considered innocent compared to other vile filth's of the world. The song is not bad if your a teen, or compared to early Donny Osmond songs that were played on the radio. Unfortunately it can even grow on you on a well programmed CHR station. The bad thing is that it's another exploitation on young teenage girls which makes you wonder why they end up missing. And this does influence on what you see on the streets of everyday life. I don't know who that rapper is...but I would get him on Megan's list ASAP.

I would doubt she did...whomever wrote this song and heavily processed this song more than cat food should be banned from the music industry altogether. This is what happens when all you in it for is money; you put out crap like this and don't care what the end result is, as long as it's getting views on YouTube and as long as some stations play it on air (I heard it on one station here in Detroit, but I don't know which one).

I gotta admit, she does have a good voice and she will make it far as an artist.....but don't put out crap like this. It makes Justin Bieber look like Eminem.....and Lord knows I seriously don't like Justin Bieber!!!!
