Reboots

Days of Our Lives will launch a second miniseries on Peacock — and bring along two beloved former stars of the daytime drama.

Peacock has ordered a second installment of Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem. The five-episode miniseries will run over a week beginning July 11. The new miniseries follows the first Beyond Salem run in September 2021.

As was the case with the first series, the second Beyond Salem will feature both current and former castmembers of the long-running NBC soap, headlined by Kristian Alfonso and Peter Reckell. They’ll reprise their roles as Hope and Bo Brady, one of the show’s longest-enduring couples.

This miniseries will be for Peacock.

The Archies will be on Netflix with a different crew from India.
The offspring of Bollywood superstars are debuting in “The Archies,” Netflix’s coming-of-age, live action musical set in 1960s India based on the teenagers of Riverdale.

Young actors Mihir Ahuja, Dot, Yuvraj Menda and Vedang Raina will feature in the film’s cast. They are joined by Khushi Kapoor, the daughter of the late actor Sridevi and producer Boney Kapoor and sister of Janhvi Kapoor; superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter Suhana Khan; and Agastya Nanda, the grandson of revered actors Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan.

The feature film adaptation of the Archie comics, which are hugely popular on the Indian subcontinent, will be produced by Akhtar and Reema Kagti for Tiger Baby and Sharad Devarajan for Graphic India. It is written by Kagti, Akhtar and Ayesha DeVitre (“Kapoor & Sons”)

Moonlighting is mentioned in reboot talks for now. Note this show originally had Cybill Shepard and Bruce Willis.

A cryptic tweet from writer/producer Glenn Gordon Caron suggests we’re either about to get a reboot of Moonlighting or someone is about to land the reruns from the ’80s drama that starred Cybill Shepherd and Bruce Willis.

Caron, who created the drama for ABC back in the day, teased a big announcement with Disney for Wednesday. Rumors about a potential Moonlighting reboot have circulated periodically over the past several years but Disney sources indicate that currently there is no reboot idea developed enough for an announcement. A modern-day series about a pair of sexy private eyes would presumably be for Hulu or Disney+.

Paramount+ to have a sequel to Frasier. Previously Frasier was on NBC during its previous stint from 1993-2004. Now the show is going to be on Paramount+ as a series.

EXCLUSIVE: The long-in-the-works Frasier followup is finally a reality. Paramount+ has given a series greenlight to the multi-camera comedy, executive produced by Kelsey Grammer who is reprising his signature character, psychiatrist-turned-radio host Frasier Crane.

As Deadline reported exclusively, Grammer in 2018 started fielding interest for a new Frasier series that would feature the title character in a new city and has been the driving force behind the efforts ever since. The project was eventually set up at Paramount+ and was announced as being in development at the streamer’s February 2021 launch event. It has now been formally picked up to series. The number of episodes has not been confirmed, I hear it will likely be 10.
