Receptor HD taking a hit on Amazon

"few members of the press paid any attention to the HD Radio receiver." :D

tankedsecondchance,

Watch out ! I have already posted this link and was flamed for Dr. Conrad supposedly being anti-IBOC, even though, the article states that he was a supporter, when it first came out.

its a fact........same software

I took out the article. It's been linked to numerous times.

Anyway, I see no proof that the software is the same there. All I'm asking for is something to back up your assertion, because I believe you're wrong.

Said a known IBOC-hater about the receiver in his opinion article.

Yet another distortion of the truth from the anti-IBOC cult. They'll say anything...

(edit: Whoops! Forgot the childish smiley ;D that SayLies likes to use when he thinks he got one on us. I use that as a cue, because I can never tell when he's actually thinking that he's telling the truth!)

Boy, you just couldn't wait and replied to yourself !

Wow...I hope you're taking remedial reading. If you look, I replied to two different people in two different posts.

What's next, do you stick out your toungue and yell "nyah, nyah"?

I think - all we need now is a slur for IBOC advocates - and one for IBOC opponents - and the board will be complete. I submit "BOCCIES" and "QUAMMERS" as candidate slur words. Anybody have better derogatory terms?

Yea, I know what you mean - one threat of physical violence, name-calling, personal attacks, and inappropriate and empty subject threads...

It makes me wonder - is that all you got? No concrete figures, no real measurements with calibrated equipment, no field surveys / listener reports. When both sides resort to personal attacks, the discussion is no longer worth reading. Both sides are doing a poor job here. It makes me want to switch to satellite so I don't have to listen to it all.

Why am I not surprised? You don't like the answers you read here? May I suggest you do whatever you'd like. Those of us who support IBOC have no financial or other stake in this. If you haven't listened to IBOC (which any serious consumer would do prior to the purchase of new technology) and want to keep those 12$ monthly payments going year after year, have fun. I've heard both XM & Sirrius a few times myself. Other than music formats they offer nothing that I would be interested in and my I-Pod has a much wider library of the music I'm interested in (Over 5,000 non duplicated songs and no monthy fee, although it cost as much as my HD Receptor at 299$ *Oh I forgot that I paid 50$ more for better headphones. The ear buds are lousy*). I've also been told that the HD codec sounds better then either XM or Sirrius. At least in the town I live one of the stations on FM is broadcasting an oldies format and that disappeared from analogue radio last year. Already HD offers me music I can't hear anywhere else on my radio, unless of course I want to keep paying for it. That is a reality which can't be argued.

Well, according to the Bridge Ratings you are well into the minority. Wireless Internet, Internet Radio, and Satellite Radio are well ahead, and projected to be many, many times more popular than HD Radio. I have no interest in any of these technologies, but just keeping IBOC from destroying the AM/FM bands, which we so much enjoy. I could care less, what you think.

Calm down - you assume that I am an opponent. I am not an opponent of digital. Just an opponent of a system that allows interference to adjacent and second adjacent stations. This is bad engineering, and wasn't necessary. I wish they could solve the engineering problem of jamming adjacents so the new system could be implemented for the enjoyment of all.

I was seeing an acceleration of personal attacks BY BOTH sides, which is non productive. The system is flawed - let's get it fixed and move on! Let's not deny it has problems by insulting those who point them out - that doesn't fix anything. And the opponents would do well to listen to the desperation of station owners who badly need some sort of boost to their sagging ratings. Or the multipath caused by reflections off buildings. IBOC could well solve those problems. Insulting station owners who have real business concerns is counter productive as well. The IBOC opponents need to show station owners real facts on how interference will eventually hurt their bottom line. Neither side is making their case.

I hear those calls of desparation.

Sagging ratings may be fixed by radio stations when they start utilizing talented people to produce quality programming again. No delivery method, no matter how good it sounds will substitute for this.

There hasn't been a truer statement made on this board!

WiMax, Cell, iPod, HD, whatever...it's not the technology, it's the content! People buy devices because of the content, not because of the delivery.

Yea, HD Radio needs to wake up - it's the content, not an inferior delivery system !

IBOCROCKS and SAYNOTOIBOC actually agree on something! :)

Isn't that one of the seven signs or something?
