For example, for the longest time I would see Sonic Drive In ads before they came up to the Seattle-Tacoma area. Also, I see a lot of Golden Corral ads on various networks, even though the nearest location is North of Seattle in Marysville, Washington, not to mention the other locations of the chain in Washington are in the Eastern part of the State.
I also see ads for Cici's Pizza, even though the nearest locations of that chain to the area I live are in Las Vegas, Arizona and Southern California.
Cici's Pizza airs alot on TNT and San Francisco does not even have one, Kroger supermarkets air on ESPN even though it does not exist in CA. Lowe's ads have been on the air on ABC and ESPN during sporting events for 10 years before Vallejo and Vacaville started to have a Lowes store.
How about the famous Cal Worthington commercials of Los Angeles were these ads ever air outside the area the ads target area? I remember Sacramento stations airing this in the 1990's and I saw it from Vallejo. Technically Vallejo is part of San Francisco Market. and Fairfield is in both the Sacramento and SFO markets.
