Remember when 93.5 KDAY was called 93.5 The Beat

What makes you think going mainstream will be "suicide"?

KIIS is already somewhat mainstream. They're playing songs from Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Ke$ha, not to mention they have the new Britney Spears' "Hold It Against Me". Even by playing those songs, KIIS still gets great ratings.

Lets go back to around 2000 from 2004 during Rick Dee's era. KIIS did not sound like it does now. When Ryan Seacrast took over it went full blown Rythnmic with more Hip Hop and R&B acts. Now its more balanced and thats because pop music is back in. Just saying CC Los Angeles wont flip none of their station to a mainstream urban sound no time soon.

Don't forget the 3rd choice in SD is Magic 92.5 which is usually a top 5 rated station.

If I was living downthere I would be listening. Thats probally the only decent station I would listen too next to KIFM 98.1

I hope Clear Channel flips Hot 92.3 back to 92.3 The Beat L.A. is due for another mainstream urban radio station.

It would be nice but it wont happen no time soon Hot will be around for a little longer. As long as CC keeps making its musical tweaks it will be around. If they bring the Beat back expect it to be Rythnmic leaning.

Someone finally agrees. ::)

If 92.3 flipped, KFI-FM would be very likely.

I don't think most people would care because this is the West Coast and it requires a very diverse audience to make revenue. KMEL has to do that so, it would be expected from a revived "the Beat" @ 92.3.

They'll probably have that no color lines slogan. I hope they don't have no syndicated shows like their last rendition of The Beat at 93.5. When KDAY was The Beat sounded like garbage for real.

Hot 92.3 is a joke of an urban format what is it rhythmic ac or urban oldies.

As of now its considered rhythnmic oldies. Music is now from the late 1960's to early 2001 or 2002. What was considred currents are now gone. Youll only hear them on the Art Laboe Connection Top 10 Now and Then and Sunday Night Slow Jamz. You keep forgetting they are not a urban statio. It leans towards Hispanics first most and well and Asain and White women who love R&B. Remeber it was urban when it flipped in August 2001 but then shifted to a more Rhythmic AC format around 2003 and 2004. If they go Urban AC again the ratings wil drop. It Los Angeles 2011 not Los Angeles back in 90's when their was enough listeners to support a full Urban AC station. They have a full power signal that can reach far.

Hot 92.3 should play that song by Dru Hill called Never Make A Promise. It had a great deal of airplay on 92.3 The Beat in Late 1997 to Early 1998. Good times.

Yes it was a good song but KHHT will never play a Dru Hill song. They are satisfied with their Top 500 songs in rotations. They change their playlist like once a year. I miss the Quiet Storm with Sean Andre.

KHHT is borderline general market AC. Motown, Madonna, Bee Gees, Commodores, etc. They try to keep it "hip" with some old school funk, but it's pretty stale with One Way, Atomic Dog, Double Dutch Bus, Taste of Honey. Bland presentation, production, and voice tracking. Sounds much too conservative. No swagger. Corny. Similiar stations in San Diego, Las Vegas, and Phoenix, hispanic leaning urban ac, have much more energy, and excitement. Even KOST has more swag! KHHT is boring.

What about Nobody Knows by The Tony Rich Project Hot 92.3 sound like that type of station something like that. That record was the jam. It got a great deal of airplay on 102.3 KJLH in Late 1995 and Early 1996.

It's in the computer just not in rotation right now. The song made their Hot 500 countdown last year. Not sure why they focus on 70's and 80's there is so much from the 90's they could play besides TLC.

KOST is boring its not the same station anymore like it was back in the 90's. I cant stand that girl in the morning. Was that the best CC could do for talent

KHHT still plays I wanna be down by Brandy. That song used to get a great deal of spins on 92.3 The Beat & Power 106 in 1994-1995. I hear I wanna be down every once in a while on KDAY though. Hot 92.3 should only play rhythmic hits from the 90's to 2002. I can't their 70's and 80's rhythmic hits. SMH. If I hear when doves cry by prince one more time I'll lose my mind.

No KHHT avoids neo soul since they relaunched back in 2004. I loved that song. My mom actually thought it was Luther at first LOL. Basically KHHT playlist focuses on latinos who love R&B music. I find it hard to consider Stacy Q and Expose R&B music. Its Freestyle

Didn't Power 106 used to play Jaheim sometimes back in 2001-2002. I could've sworn I've heard Just in Case and Anything Featuring Next in their rotation back in 2001 when it was mainstream urban. Goodtimes.

Those Jaheim songs were big on urban radio in 2001-2002. I always liked the "Just in Case" song, especially the remix Featuring Nas! Ever peep that, BJordan?

Would KHHT play Usher's song Nice & Slow from 1998? I remember hearing that on 92.3 The Beat back in day. Power 106 played it 30 times a day too when it first came out. goodtimes.
