REPORT: GSN Cancels Playmania/Quiznation

From what I gather ,
The reson you wont see TPIR with Bob Barker on GSN is that not only would it be expensive to edit out ALL the furs that were given away , but they would also have to pay royalties to three certain models who sued him

Its all politics!

They only gave away furs during the first season or two, 1972 - 1974 (approximately), before Bob found religion with regard to animal rights. From what I gather, Bob won't allow those two seasons to air (nor the Dennis James-hosted syndicated version).

The second reason, the royalties to the three (or four, perhaps, if you count Anitra or Kathleen Bradley) original models Dian, Janice and Holly is a very good supposition. Depends on how their contracts were structured either originally or toward the end of the their respective runs. Janice Pennington was let go in 2000 along with her one-time injury substitute, Kathleen Bradley. Holly in 1995 and Dian after the 1992-93 season.

Come to think of it, it was right around the same time The Price Is Right quit airing on GSN. Perhaps it has more to do with Janice's departure than either Holly or Dian's.

I guess chances for Price is Right airing on GSN anytime soon are very small, if not impossible. Probably other unknown royalties had something to do with GSN dropping the reruns some time back.

It's going to be interesting to see how the last day of Playmania/Quiznation plays out. Well, maybe just the last few moments.

I thought it was around 1981 or 1982 when Bob stopped allowing real furs on the show.

Hi everyone:

Now they need to get all those crap reality shows they have on there off!
Better yet, ALL the networks need to get rid of ALL of those so-called "Reality" shows on ALL of television.

The only shows that resemble reality TV are shows like COPS but you have to wonder if those shows have outlived their usefulness since many people seem to think that simply by trying to outrun the police, drive while drunk, rob a bank or hit their spouse, they will (somehow) get their 15 minutes of "fame" when in fact we all know all that will do is land you in a 6 x 10 jail cell.

Thoughts onthat?

Cheers :D

And chances are when they get caught, they end up not appearing on COPS, because (a) their footage was rejected for broadcast, or (b) COPS's camera crew was not in town, or in tow, when the police catches the crooks.

Playmania blew it when they brought in that Jeff guy to host too often. It was nice when they had a pretty girl hosting every show. That and the 100 questions nonsense, which they quickly got rid of, were the beginning of the end.
