Requested songs getting played?

Any luck anyone? If so, what, where, and how?

You can still get requests on 60's during Terry Young's show. Provided you just request a safe artist of the decade they'd play anyway (i.e. Beatles, Rolling Stones, Temptations, Four Seasons) and not a particular song. ???

The Bird on Satellite too, huh? LOL - and you have to pay for that.

Cousin Brucie plays requests and some of them are more obscure.
I don't know if those calls are setup in advance though.

First Wave needs to play more requests. Fred was excellent in its variety. 1st Wave is mostly the greatest hits of the greatest hits CD.

Funny you should mention Brucie. His "Winter Dance Party" rerun has been listed on the Channel 6 schedule Mondays at 6 p.m. eastern time for the last 7 weeks. It never plays! I've received no response to my e-mails from Brucie or Channel 6.

That's weird. Brucie always encourages people to email. Speaking of Bruce his Saturday night show was not on. Just the computer playing music and jingles for 4 hours. No notice--nothing.

Opening a small, local phone line for about fifty minutes max and then shutting it down is one thing; however, I cannot imagine a phone ringing nonstop for several hours, and you have to take the calls and talk to people - without breaking stride - from anywhere in the United States or around the world. It is a wise move to do voice mail or e-mail. You can also better screen and manage any ne'er-do-well types and enjoy the rest.

Speaking of Fred, when XM launched back in 2001, I requested a fairly obscure song, mostly to see what version they had. The phone was answered promptly, and the song was played 2 songs later.

Not only would this never happen today, that song probably isn't even in 1st Wave's server.

1st Wave will play your request, as long as it's "Mickey" or "Hungry Like The Wolf". In fact, they'll play it 4 times a day so you don't miss it.

On 60's On 6, there was a recent call in request for "All Along The Watchtower". The DJ asked the caller for another request, in case he didn't have it. What???? I guess Jimi Hendrix doesn't qualify as an artist that would be familiar to 60's listeners. Sad.

Or Dylan's original, or Stevie Ray Vaughn's remake of Jimi's remake. In case they didn't have it? Right, I love "DJs" that don't know what they have. ::)

Aren't you people suspicious of 1st Wave ?
When people request a song that is in rotation already, I wonder.
I think this is a game to make you think they care.
Fred & The System RULE !!!!!

I can say that they have always responded to my requests on The Strobe and I have asked for some pretty obscure stuff. I have seen where they have actually found a vinyl 12" and played that because it was not available on CD. Most of my requests have ended up in semi-regular rotation. They have also emailed me back regarding my questions. I'm a happy guy.
