For the first time ever, country music's most venerable institution, the Grand Ole Opry, will be televised live from Nashville. True to the Opry tradition, no one knows more than 48 hours in advance exactly who will perform, but the 20 to 30 acts will be drawn from the Opry's roster of performers, including Minnie Pearl, Roy Acuff, Bill Monroe, Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton, Lester Flatt, Johnny Cash, Roy Clark, and Merle Haggard.

KPBS will climax its Festival '78 Membership Campaign with its own closing festivities including the volunteers to answer phones LIVE from the KPBS studios.

NOTE: Each of the special programs during the Festival '78 Membership Campaign will include KPBS Membership Pledge Breaks where the KPBS staff will ask us to become a supporting member by calling: (714) 583-2120, Basic Memberships start at $15 a year, although any amount is welcomed. With this minimum membership, the individual is sent the monthly "KPBS Guide" which previews upcoming programs through articles and complete listings of the month's programming with repeat times for each show, plus more articles of San Diego music, arts, theater, entertainment and events that KPBS viewers are most interested in. With a $30 a year membership, a person is entitled to receive a number of special premiums (Books, Records, Mugs, etc) and it goes on for a $50 membership, a $75 membership, and for a $100 membership to KPBS...or more, All Memberships are tax-deductible and All Memberships are for 12 months and Bankamericard or Mastercharge are accepted.
