RFF IS ONE YEAR OLD TOMORROW

I dunno I think RFF is much better than Y, Y never played S-Trees, Smiths, New Order, Flys, Chevelle and they would not play some new breaking acts such as PATD, FOB, Simpleplan, Coldplay and a load of others.

Although Y-100 was a lot different after the original owner sold it in '02, I remember first hearing Coldplay, Simple Plan and a LOT of other new music for the first time on that station. I'll grant that at the height of the whole "rap-rock" genre's popularity, they weren't going to go digging into Joy Division's back catalog - but as far as new music went, Y-100 was second to none.

When Lerner sold out to R***** One, it was the demise of Y. R1 did not care, nor wanted to put any ca$h into the operation, running an Alternative format is not "THEIR" thing, although rumor has it, Lerner made a deal to sell only if the format stood in place indefinitely, he did love Alternative. Is their only other Alternative outlet down south still operating, I have my doubts....

truth is

greater media was trying to buy y100 from radio one at least the name to move it over to 95.7 then radio one would have had 100.3 all to itself
but that deal fell through
in other words it would have been for example 100.3 the beat
y95.7

I never knew that. What a bummer.
