Man, either Jon Elliot is a sick bastard, or Randi seriously miscalculated how this could be spun for an on-air story. (She's certainly not above conspiracy theories.) Either way, I now don't feel bad to say that I can't personally stand Randi's show. I just felt concerned for an injured person. Wow.

And if it's found that it was NOT politically motivated, I'm sure those theorizing a right-wing hit will apologize.

That will happen the same day Michelle Malkin, Rush and many right wing bloggers apologize about their swiftboating last week of 12 year old Graeme Frost, his sister and their parents. This will also happen when Ann Coulter apologizes for criticizing judaism, when Rush apologizes for calling anti-war vets "phony soliders" and when Bushco apologizes for go to war for cheap oil(as Alan Greenspan and now Gen. Abizaid both say).

And if this incident is eventually found out to be 'politically' motivated I am sure apologies will be forthcoming.

If Rush would have been mugged I would have thought the same thing.

Keep in mind that someone could have a grudge against Rush that has nothing to do with his political beliefs. His rx drug scandal revealed to many of us that Oxycontin is often referred to as Hillbilly Heroin - hillbillies might feel this tarnishes their image. Also, what about when he came back from his vacation with 4 buddies to the Dominican Republic? He was caught with Viagara - the rx was made out to a friend. The Dominican Republic is a hotbed for child prostitution. Average guys who take Viagara so they can make love to their wives AND child rights advocates might then hold a grudge against him(though he may have intended to have sex with an adult while in DR, it's all very speculative).

Inside sources tell me that Randi Rhodes was mugged by Dan Rather, who hasn't been receiving enough attention lately.

All she can remember is someone mumbling something about "frequency" and "Kenneth".

Not hard to push it. Drugo got caught on tape(he does do a radio show, of course). Yet when he later said when he mentioned "phony soliders"(plural), he was referring to that one actual phony soldier. His referral to the actual phony solider(singular) came later in the conversation. I guess his cult followers think he's sort of like Billy Pilgrim in Slaughterhouse 5...and his comments are out of sequence. Amazing how people will believe any explanations he offers. Just my two cents here...

Though I am a conservative, I wish Randy well...and hope her recovery is quick. Though I may differ with her politically, she attempts every day to entertain her audience. More power to her.

Jon Elliott has apologized for his "analysis"...we conservatives should take him at his word and accept it...period.

For once, let's tone down the rhetoric, and see where, or if...this thing goes. There'll be plenty of room to criticize later...if that turns out to be the case.

I admit, I wasn't happy with the automatic assumption it was right-wing bigotry...but, I accept the sad, sorry political climate we live in today. Folks...this needs to change on both sides.

Jason, that's generous of you, but I'm a liberal and I think it's clear that Jon was just making stuff up. The assertions about the "right wing hate machine" being "afraid that we're winning" was gratuitous -- normally par for the course on either side of the talk radio political spectrum, but a ridiculous jump to a conclusion in this case. I don't fault people for speculating whether it was politically motivated -- who knows what some enraged listener might try to pull if the host regularly mentions where they live. But Jon Elliot deserves all the criticism he's getting here.

Yes, it is sad. Equally sad on both sides. I have no doubt that if Hannity was reportedly mugged the right leaners would just as quickly assume it was politically motivated by left leaners.
