Hmmm. Seems like they have issues with the automation on these. A lot of this issues also occurred on the Classic AT 40 Channel. The last several weeks the station looping the current weekly show has been skipping the last show segment. Songs 40-2 play and then the show restarts.
I don’t mind them, but I’ve been listening to it since the 90s.One thing is pretty obvious is the ANNOYING RICK DEES AND THE WEEKLY TOP 40 JINGLES added to the songs being played on the countdown. Too much.

The jingles/segment formatics are identical to AT40.
Perhaps it's a reference to the short parody clips where soundalikes alter the opening lyrics to songs to make lyrics about Rick and the countdown? And yes, he still does that on the current 2025 shows, and it sounds so out of place.
I like that he still does the parody song intros. I miss Don LaFontaine as the "big voice guy" on the Weekly Top 40.The jingles/segment formatics are identical to AT40. At one point I remember reading on Rick's website or in an article about him, that his son was helping him off air with the countdown/other stuff behind the scenes. What I was struck by when I started listening to the Weekly Top 40 again a few years ago, after around 10 years of not listening, is how Rick's voice has changed. I don't know how else to say it, and this isn't meant to sound ageist or mean, but Rick sounds old. I still find him entertaining, but I expected him to sound the same as he did 10/20/30 years ago, kind of like Poorman or Richard Blade.Perhaps Mr. Dees should seriously consider retirement. He's had a good run, but I would find it sad if he pushes it to the point where people would start feeling sorry for him.
But he already has his old 80s and 90s shows people can listen to via his app.I don't dislike Rick and I was a Weekly Top 40 P1 for many years. But he just doesn't connect with the CHR audience and hasn't for a long time. I feel like he'd be better off hosting some type of retro show (not to mention have the possibility of having more affiliates that the current Weekly Top 40)
That is what I was going for. It's invented into current songs where it's RICK DEES AND THE WEEKLY TOP 40; Good example is Lady Gaga's Abracadabra. The jingles/segment formatics are identical to AT40. I meant if he stil wanted to host a current show in addition to the replays, something for Classic Hits would likely be a better connection with an audience that wants to hear a show from RickBut he already has his old 80s and 90s shows people can listen to via his app.

That's a shame. He'd be perfect to resurrect some version of 'Americas Greatest Hits' that was hosted by Scott Shannon.Rick Dees was approached, after he left KIIS-FM, to do mornings at KRTH. He turned them down, saying he would "never be an 'oldies' jock".
I doubt his reluctance has changed.
I've seen complete AT 40 shows from the 70s and 80s on EBAY from time to time. Complete shows on a flash drive. Growing up I was more Team Casey than Team Rick. That said I will need to check out his old shows for my dose of vitamin N (nostalgia).I've been ripping the Rick Dees Weekly Top 40 Classic channel for about a year now. I love listening to the old shows I listened to as a kid in the 80s and 90s. I wish I could purchase his entire 80s and 90s catalog for personal listening.40
