Syndication One's Rickey Smiley Morning Show continues to add more stations. As expected, Rickey is taking the morning spot on some stations that currently airs Citadel's Big Boy's Neighborhood. Citadel has plans on dropping the show in the middle of this month around the same time Rickey will go on in the following cities...

Im not too sure where Rickey's show will land in Charleston,SC. Z-93 JAMZ, B92, 95SX...hmm a new station? Who knows, but Charleston,SC was metioned in the cities of new stations.

urbanradio704, Rickey is taking over one city at a time. Actually, its a good fit for southern Urban stations. Here in Georgia, he's on in every radio market.
 
Yeah I know. I really enjoy his show. I've been trying to get Chris Connors (PD, Hot 103) to dump Big Boys for Rickey for a minute. Glad to see he finally wised up. We need his show in Charlotte. I got question though, where did you get info on Rickey adding more markets, I was trying to find an article but couldn't?

LOL, local connections. You know his show is live and local here at the Radio One HOT 107.9 studios. Im still trying to figure out where is he landing in Charleston, SC. The ONLY Urban Hip-Hop/R&B station is Citadel's Z-93 JAMZ. They are live & local in the mornings so im confused as of now.
 
I would think it would be Z93, I mean Citadel is bankrupt and that local morning show they have now really isn't that good anyway. I'm surprised they didn't have Big Boy in the first place though, I mean aren't they a Citadel station? Probably a cost saving for them. B92 caters to a white audience, so I don't really see Rickey being a fit there. I know Michael Tee, PD of Star 99.7, B92's sister station, I may call and ask him.

I think Rickey would beat Parr in Columbia. Only reason I say that is because Rickey is known for his jokes and prank calls, plus it'll be fresh and new to the area. Doesn't 100.1 The BEAT have a stronger Columbia proper signal compared to HOT 103.9?
 
I agree, I think it would be a big ratings boost for Hot. Big Boys is one of the worst rated in Columbia AMD as of now, I think Rickey could change that. Hot has a 9,200 watt signal vs 100,000 watts for The Beat. The Beat's signal is stronger, but Hot still does a decent job of covering the market, not as bad as you would think. Radio One is dumping Russ for Rickey in alot of their markets, and Rickey does alot better. I would expect the same here. I would expect more money regardless of the ratings, Rickey's name is already a household name,that alone would bring in more revenue. Isn't he one of the kings of comedy? I could be wrong on that.

Rickey Smiley isn't a king of comedy, but Steve Harvey and DL Hugley are. I was always curious as to know how long Radio One would hold on to Russ Parr?
 
As of today March 8th Rickey is on in Birmingham on 101.9 WENN. I believe Tulsa and Lawton went on as well, but Perry Broadcasting streams are down. I haven't heard about the other new stations as of yet.
 
I heard bout dat Rap King, but I heard they were back on shortly after. As far as The Rickey Smiley Morning Show on K98 and K-Jamz 105.3, they're still broadcasting Big Boy's show. However, Rickey's banner is now on both stations websites.

New City: Little Rock, AR...Rickey Smiley goes on in April! Does this mean Broadway Joe's Morning Show at POWER 92 JAMZ/KIPR gets canned or possibility of a format flip at another station in favor for Urban???

Well, I would rather see a local morning show over Rickey Smiley because his show doesn't NOTHING for me...

How did you know he would bring his show to Little Rock? If he does come, I hope a station around here changes formats to Urban, because I'm tired of only being able to listen to Power 92. We also have Streets 101.1, but their signal is so weak. Maybe they'll bring back Hot 96.5.
 
100.3 the beat in philly has a big announcement monday at 5 i wonder if they will say they are picking up rickey smiley ?
