RIP 104.7 The Fish

Could they run 105.3 and 105.7 together like Y106.7 and Y104.1 were ran as one station (which I always thought was suspect)
The FCC doesn't care what you program, with one restriction: if you own two FM stations that overlap 70 dBu (city-grade) coverage by more than 50%, they can't simulcast the same format.

There's essentially no 70 dBu overlap between 105.3/105.7, or between 106.7/104.1, so there's nothing "suspect" about simulcasting.

Much sharper engineering minds than mine have spent a lot of time looking at any more potential upgrades that could still be done. This one isn't one of them.
I am sure no one has spent the funds to figure out upgrades for a merger that hasn't happened. Plus what deregulation will the Trump appointees deliver? The industry (and nation) has been promised less regulation. I would like to see the COL be changed to a simple MSA, spacing rules done away with simply protect the existing 40 (or 30 db) contours of existing A thru C stations. The third channel protection has been neutered by translators, please put it out of everyone's misery.

IMHO after / if the mergers and promised deregulation happens things will be different for OTA.
