Did Mr. Malloy service mark "CD 92.9" at all? Or get a trademark for the callsign?Probably the most excitement we'll see in Columbus radio this year...
CD 92.9 posted this recently on FB:
EMF doesn't buy AM stations.Let me guess. EMF gets it.
A quick look at the US Copyright/trademark site would suggest no but that site is difficult to navigate so I am not 100% certain they didn't.Did Mr. Malloy service mark "CD 92.9" at all? Or get a trademark for the callsign?
the license owners plan currently to run their own format on the frequencies as they did prior to leasing them out. EMF typically does not buy AM licenses and the translators that are associated with these two AMs are not ideal for EMF.Let me guess. EMF gets it.
I'm curious how much money his outfit had spent to WHIZ and Delmar over the years with those LMAs. Can't imagine it saved them any money at all.I don’t think Mr. Malloy is a very good businessman. I thought It was a head scratcher when he sold 101.1 a signal that he actually owned outright only to lease another signal at 102.5. I wouldn’t sell my house to rent an apartment. Just saying.
Well in Randy's defense - It's more complicated than that. 101.1 was owned by Roger Vaughn's Fun with Radio - they are the ones who sold 101.1 to lease 102.5 instead - During the lease of 102.5 Fun with Radio had a dispute with the owners of 102.5 and almost lost the lease of the license to a LMA with Salem. Randy purchased the Intellectual property of Fun with Radio in 2017 and when they could not come up with a agreement to stay on 102.5 a few years later they ended up striking a deal with 1550/1580/92.9 and now are in the same situation they were with 102.5- could not come to a deal so their walking away again.I don’t think Mr. Malloy is a very good businessman. To be honest, if you can't even close a deal to buy two marginal high-band AMs and their FM translators, something else might be an issue.Well in Randy's defense - it's more complicated than that. Fair enough - I am just an outsider so I have no clue personally on the details on the inside. I always thought the format was going to face struggles when the original owners sold 101.1 to Ohio State. They had a license and opted to move to a lease instead and anytime you do that you're at the mercy of that lease payment each month to keep going and you don't get to set the terms of said lease. It's like me renting an apartment. I accept the lease renewal cost or walk away.To be honest, if you can't even close a deal to buy two marginal high-band AMs and their FM translators, something else might be an issue.
I don't think they're subscribed to Nielsen.Anybody have any idea how large an audience 92.9 has? Never saw them listed. They seem to the Columbus area pretty well.
