Cheaper to design =P

Guy at 16 is good at logos. Mike Rudolf. He did one for the Wyoming County something-tennial which combined several elements with a lot of simplicity. Also did the 88five logo for WRKC.<P ID="signature">______________

I'm now hearing commercials on the River. Unobtrusive. I hope it remains that way.

I actually reminds me of Buzz 102/103. They also had a 5000 song marathon (although I thought it lasted almost 3 weeks?). Then they started with 2-3 commercials an hour. Then they added traffic and weather then finally dj's. Vanderheyden (hope I spelled that right) indicated they would have all the usual radio station tools. Hopefully they get some good hosts appropriate to the format. I kind of liked the news/weather/traffic format of WWDL (just with new people). I also liked the fact that they had hourly local news updates at noon and the afternoon. For too many local stations local news seems to end at 9 am.

By the way, love the music variety. Nothing like hearing Steely Dan, the Doors, the Bee Gees, Lauren Branigan, Bad Company, and the Motels, among many others all on one station. I hope they keep it up. I just wished they played album versions instead of radio edits.

WWDL's news didn't offer much. If I wanted to know what was in the newspaper, I would have purchased one.

Have you noticed "Mountain Guides" have been talking way TOO much lately? It seems like they want to prove how much they know about the music. It's beginning to ruin what this station is all about.

Yes, 104.9 is a nice little station. But lets not forget the REPEAT SONGS. That 5,000 song playlist probablly in reality is more like 950ish or something, minus the commercials. Take away those repeat songs, and i think they will be doing pretty well for themselves. I don't like the logo, but if they keep the airplay quality fresh, that shouldn't matter too much.

What could ultimately hurt 104.9 in the books is if friends are conversing together. EXAMPLE:....

Guy 1 - That 104.9 is a good station.
Guy 2 - Cool, what's the format?
Guy 1 - Ummm well, they don't have one.

My point here is...that other person might not listen because of the unfamiliarity with the format. Let's say the River was known as 104.9 JACK FM. I think it would attract more business as more people would immediately be able to identify and associate the station with something. The Mountain got lucky and tapped into something unforseen imo about 3 years ago going format-less for the most part. Can another station follow suit and really make another decent impact such as The Mountain? IMO it's doubtful, but we'll see. I certainly wish the boys at 104.9 the best of luck.
