Yes, 104.9 is a nice little station. But lets not forget the REPEAT SONGS. That 5,000 song playlist probablly in reality is more like 950ish or something, minus the commercials. Take away those repeat songs, and i think they will be doing pretty well for themselves. I don't like the logo, but if they keep the airplay quality fresh, that shouldn't matter too much.
What could ultimately hurt 104.9 in the books is if friends are conversing together. EXAMPLE:....
Guy 1 - That 104.9 is a good station.
Guy 2 - Cool, what's the format?
Guy 1 - Ummm well, they don't have one.
My point here is...that other person might not listen because of the unfamiliarity with the format. Let's say the River was known as 104.9 JACK FM. I think it would attract more business as more people would immediately be able to identify and associate the station with something. The Mountain got lucky and tapped into something unforseen imo about 3 years ago going format-less for the most part. Can another station follow suit and really make another decent impact such as The Mountain? IMO it's doubtful, but we'll see. I certainly wish the boys at 104.9 the best of luck.
