RNO? Anyone home? Hullo???

Hell, why not? A monkey could program 99.5 and get the same numbers just by signing a carrier on the air and eating bananas live on the air all day. And some idiot is actually being paid big bucks to program this gumbo of crap and get the pitiful results 99.5 has. I'll sign a PD contract there for the same money in a heartbeat if they're happy with ARB fractions, and they can call me a monkey all they want for the year. I can also coach LSU basketball for a season and get as many SEC wins as Brady had this year, for the same money as him. I can also coach the Saints for a few years and guarantee them just as many losing seasons as they've already had, in which the coaches got paid pots of gold for losing.

Seriously, it's just a question on 99.5 of "then vs. now" and a question of "why this???".

Who exactly IS programming this station currently? Whomever it may be, they are doing an awful job, of course this goes without saying. Question # 2, why in the world would they look to hire a morning personality BEFORE hiring a program director? Question # 3 really isn't a question at all but rather a statement. Is this a screwed up place or what?

From most of what I'm gathering... no one is really a fan of WWL either. So if WRNO-FM makes a few good programming moves, they could have a substantial impact on the News/Talk ratings in town, maybe even take the lead.

Even if you're not a fan of Clear Channel, I wouldn't count WRNO out... CC knows how to spend when they need to, and attract and groom great talent. Look at the ratings in most markets, they tend to dominate for a reason.

Flamers aside, I'm sure many will agree.

Maybe so, my entire point in starting this thing was that the potential was certainly there provided they made smart decisions and put a roster of talent together worth listening to.

However my other question which has been unanswered is who is the current pd??????

I've seen ads for mornings on RNO and middays on KBU; in all seriousness, for a radio vet yearning to return to the Gulf Coast, are these bad places to apply?

I think Bob Christopher was the PD. Dinosaur!!! I hear he is out though. RNO needs to stop playing around and get serious. They have two problems. First, their talent is suspect. Second, the good talent they do have, they aren't utilizing properly. In the interim, WWL continues to leave itself open to competition, but on one seems to want to cash in on the opportunity.

I still cannot believe they purged so many people and still they air Garey and Anthony, who are now tied on the list as worst talk hosts in New Orleans. They must have photos of Kramer and Christopher that they are using as blackmail.

And the people that they are bringing in are even worse. Anyone heard the male/female team they brought in for a few days or the guy from Florida they brought in last week? Unlistenable.

I heard Christopher giving a news report yesterday. Everyone says that he's out of management. Mike Kramer's still there though and Dick Lewis.

At least they had the good sense to take off the midday reruns of Garey and Anthony and put Dennis Miller on this week. Miller's not great but he's better than 5 hours of Hannity and on his worst day, better than the Best (if there is such a thing) of Garey and Anthony. They are the only local talk in that segment and Savage on 690 kicks their a___.

When are they going to do something in AM Drive?

Reminds me of Susan Powter... "Stop the insanity!"
These guys ar friggin' retards, huh?

Garey and Anthony are off the web site, let's hope for good.

Now RNO needs to add some local talk besides Andre. Oh well, guess it's back to the drawing board.
