RO selling off the Mix signals

Hmm…WLNK status has returned to “pending”. Maybe R1 is awaiting the WMXG (99.3) sell to be granted so it syncs up the handoff 🤔
It hasn't been returned to pending. FCCData's data imports have been working incorrectly for a few weeks. Always use the FCC's actual data to verify. A link is always more functional for the userbase than a screenshot...

There are two parts of the transfer process, the assignment and modification of the license. The assignment has been approved for both WLNK and WMXG. The modification of license is still pending for both, and will go through once the deal closes.

WLNK’s signal upgrade was also approved.

This may be the last week for Mix Charlotte. Friday night Matt Harris subbed for TJ on WBT and I think he said he had one more week on the air. I don't know what they have announced yet to the Mix listeners, or what his future plans may be. He had a good long run just recently marking 25 years at WLNK on 107.9. Wish they would reunite Matt and Ramona on some other venue.

I normally listen to TJ in the evenings and heard some of Matt's fill in after WYRD loses me from 7pm to 6am. BBN based in Charlotte will blanket most of the market with an upgraded 100.9 along with 91.1 to the west and the current 93.5 from the east, now areas north of Charlotte will be the weak spot for BBN.

The sale will close on June 1.

Morning co-host Liz Luda just announced on her Facebook channel that tomorrow (Wednesday) is her last show on WLNK.

I hadn't kept up with her as wel las i shouldve... she worked for F;inn in Memphis and covered a few shift for me at Flinns California station for a few days when I was PD out there. Super smart, nice gal. Shes gone onto some big things since Memphis.. it was just the Charlotte piece i somehow forgot about!

Matt Harris is a conservative? I didn’t know that.

Youd be surprised who falls where.. as an example, not everyone at NPR member stations is as liberal and lefty as one think

WKBC should stay put and sell to BBN.

On WBT Bo and Beth acknowledged today is the last day for Matt Harris on WLNK after 25 years. It looks like Mix Charlotte may indeed be coming to an end at the end of the month. Unless the music format continues without the talent on some secondary platform, such as the streaming feed or HD subchannel. But will the WLNK calls be reapplied somewhere in the future? I guess time will tell, but obviously moving from a strong signal on 107.9 to two inferior signals did not prove economically viable.

WKBC should stay put and sell to BBN.

What is your theory or reasoning behind that? The move closer to charlotte makes the signal more valuable ... even if they sell just the permit to someone else with zero equipment, its likely worth more money than the station as is now.

BBN seems like it has decent charlotte coverage but it doesnt NW of the city and into that rural area. They have a small boone translator The area is pretty rural.. maybe BBN has figured out they couldnt recoup their operating cost.

What is your reasoning behind WKBC should stay put and BBN should buy it? Id be curious what you're thinking.

I find BBN an incredibly boring snooze fst but obviously support whoever wants to buy a signal if whoever owns it wants to sell, but I hope it doesn't go to BBN. I'd rather it go to Klove or air 1. Something a bit more general interest

Okay, that's true.

That's why WKBC would fill a need, but yeah, the cost may be the problem.

I'm looking at it from the standpoint of those who want BBN, not good business practice.

Ok lets look at this form that stand point......... how have you determined there is a need?

How do you know people up there want BBN over in WKBC FM land?

I don't. But it's not there on a good signal.

My guess is WYFG at 91.1 reaches the southern part of the area but I haven't tried. I have a button because that's the oldies station in Florence SC. I did get a good signal in the Asheville area.

WHPE 95.5 has a short tower and WXRC 95.7 would likely interfere.

Just because theres a format hole somewhere doesnt mean it needs to be filled
