Robb Case passing

Very sad news. My thoughts are with his family. I had no idea he had been sick until I read this. Hopefully Mr Litton can keep WHKC alive in his memory.

I'm very saddened and shocked to hear that Mr. Case has passed away. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Columbus radio good guys? This year it was Robb above everyone else. He truly cared about what each and every one of us wanted to hear, he e-mailed us regularly about how things were shaping up with 91.5, and the most fun I had last January was watching the original "Hairspray" for the first time -- a film that I had only checked out of the library because I had heard he was in it!
The last time I spoke with Robb, about two months ago, it was to simply thank him for being on the air earlier that night, and nothing more. With the station I think he very much enjoyed what he was doing, and although he listened to us, I feel he pretty much did things his own way. Much as it may hurt me to write this, you have to admire and respect that.
From his family of listeners to his real family, our condolences.

I am truley shocked to read this news this morning. I worked with Robb at CMH during the late 90s. Talk about a true professional....he also had this very dry sense of humor about him that would just make you chuckle at times. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire family!

Channel 4 helicopter pilot Robb Case dies
Friday, September 14, 2007 3:35 AM
By Tim Feran
The Columbus Dispatch

Robb Case, former helicopter pilot and reporter for WCMH-TV (Channel 4) and owner of several radio stations in central Ohio, died at home yesterday morning after a long battle with cancer. He was 50.

Case resigned as the station's pilot-reporter in 2006 after almost 22 years.

The Dispatch article errs when it implies that Robb and Mark Litton did not begin Central Ohio station ownership until the early 90's.  I know that they owned 103.1 in 1988, and I believe they owned a couple other area stations before 1990.

One poster was upset to learn that the station was slated to become Christian talk.  While I would normally have the same reaction he did, for now that's entirely overshadowed by the sad passing of Mr. Case.  Besides, we knew such a flip was likely to happen at some point, especially when the ownership entity was named "Christian Broadcasting Services."  That's why I've been telling myself for months to record at least a few hours of the station's current format "just to remember."  Eerily, I finally did that late one night last week, and then the next morning read Radioboy's post that someone in Columbus radio was very ill. I'm grateful that Robb provided Columbus a treat for 9 months -- listenable music on a good signal!

But again, this is all overshadowed by the sadness of his passing at age 50.

Like the most recent poster states.. The ownership was Christian Broadcasting Services so it was very likely to take a Christian type format at some point.

My thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Case's family and friends and everyone who has been affected by Mr Case over the years. I think the fact that Mr. Case programmed the unique format on WHKC for almost 9 months shows that he really cared for the community and really cared about what he did.

I grew up listening to 105.7 the Power Pig, Hot 105/107...and have grown to love 91.5, and even enjoyed the recent few months that Mr. Case went live on Saturday nights and the few times I was able to call in and have brief conversations with him.

Mr. Case will be missed.

I met Robb way back in the old days when he was hired on as a part timer at 92x. He was always upbeat and positive. Always energetic. Glad to be able to say that I knew him.

I worked fro Robb Case and Mark Litton at their various properties around Columbus.

While I am sorry to hear of his passing I am grateful to know the unmatched and unending joy that he is now experiencing.

I always enjoyed my time working for them and look forward to hearing what is to come from 91.5.

I'm very sorry to hear this news. My condolences to Robb's family.

Sad to hear of Robb's passing. Thanks Robb for the great Hot 105/107/Kiss-FM. My thoughts and prayers are with his family in this time of loss.
