I'm guessing part of the problem is that many people -- such as myself -- had bookmarks directly to specific boards. When radio-info upgraded, these bookmarks became useless. For the better part of a week, I thought the site was simply down due to a server crash or upgrade or something along those lines... before I bothered typing in radio-info.com into my browser to discover the "new" homepage. It would have been nice if they set up the server so that all "404 page not found" errors would have instead displayed a page directing people through the "new" homepage to find the "new" locations for the boards. That first week or so where logins didn't work so well was also a major drawback... but considering there aren't any well-known "competitor" sites with similar boards, I'm sure people will come back sooner or later.oldschooler1 said:I think since radio-info upgraded, and it had a problem with recognizing some log-ins and passwords, many posters simply didn't have the time/patience to work it through.
From what I heard Jolly was among a few people Channel 10 let go. The others shown the door reportedly were off-air staff.tvrochester said:What happened to Urkel? I mean Kevin Jolly? I mean what a freakin' tool. He just reeked day in day out. Anyway, who has the scoop out there? Did he get another job?
The only changes I have seen are over at WHAM. Chuck Samuels in now VP/GM and Steve Dawe is ND. This board is an excellent source of information and a great place to talk about the changes in the Rochester market. If you're looking for industry news on a more regular basis, I suggest Scott Fybush's NorthEast Radio Watch (mainly radio with a bit of TV) and then there's my own site Rochester, NY News (which covers the TV side of things).311 said:it's been a couple of weeks. any new info on new positions or changes in the market? i would assume the stations would try to put someone in as quickly as possible. although getting a good news director is no easy task...any word?

Good Luck to her on finding a new job...

Perhaps I went a bit overboard by claiming these reporters are graduates from that organization. Many of them went to creditable colleges and worked hard for their degrees and should be congratulated. But on the other hand I've witnessed a number of people in my 30 years in the business who did not display either the ability or talent to be on TV. Yet, because they look good, or met EEOE requirements, were granted opportunities that other, more qualified people were not.SirRoxalot said:Mark Giardina said:Graduates from the Columbia School of Broadcasting.
Not affiliated with the Columbia Broadcasting System. The owner of one of the worst websites I've ever seen. If that's an example of their commitment to quality, forewarned is forearmed...

Is is true that Emily Smith is leaving 10 and going to New York City? At least that is what one poster on here is writing. Like I mentioned in my reply, I don't really watch local TV news anymore, with the exception once in a while of R-News at night. I've seen briefly Smith on TV but she never left much of an impression with me. Then again she might have heard me on the radio and felt the same way![]()
