Rock 100.5/Bone merge Friday @ 10AM

ALSO, 99X.com is in transition of sorts....the rotator area is now blank and the construction banner has now disappeared. Seems pretty clear it's making a return in some form or fashion.

I mentioned earlier their FB page is back live. It was posted before that they will end up back on 97.9.

Not too impressed with the new Rock 100.5 -- sounds like the took the old Rock 100.5 added some Project 96-1 and a hint of the old 99X 90's alternative and leaned the playlist with less 70's/80's classic rock (though I did just hear some Zeepelin & ZZ Top) so they did not throw out all the 70's.

Not being negative but in the first hour I can't figure out the new format.

Guess it's another wasted signal and good air talent for the most part. Atlanta still needs some type of hybrid AAA/ALT/Modern rock station and another chance was missed in my opinion. Back to streaming good stations in other cities for me.

I know I have an eclectic taste in music, and from what I can tell I like what is being played so far which I think is much better than what has been dished with all the format changes/format drops last year. I am also wondering about The Walk, and when 97.9 gets back on the air.

I know things could change on 100.5, but I am still hopeful that there might be a new AAA station in Atlanta again.

Oh I know...Im just providing addition information that supports the idea that they'll be back.

Can they PLEASE stop warming over the "99X" brand?

That's right up there with the old "WXRP" in NYC...

Legacy brand. People evidently still like it....hipsters, mang.

Looks to me like 100.5 is going Mainstream Rock which is what I think is needed. The classic/active split several years back was appropriate at the time but now I believe that a good, balanced mix of classics and new rock with strong personalities can be VERY successful. If you loved 96 Rock (and a LOT of people did) then I think you'll be happy.

I know it's a "legacy" brand, but they've been dragging it through the mud for the past several years with all of this "@ 97.9" crap, frequency changes, low powered signals, etc. That brand should have stayed online only and never come back to OTA. It's sort of ruined now.

Chris, did WKLS Gadsden go up in power? I was picking it up in Bremen, Ga this morning. If not, any plans to do so?

New branding would probably be best with just too much movement over the years, but I'd still be happy to see Atlanta to get an alternative station back.

I've got something to clarify, I stated that 97.9 was dead air this morning, but when I was out in my car I found out that the station is back as being Q100/20. Sorry for the confusion, but with all of this format flipping lately it just seemed kind of an odd thing to have a technical difficulty with the radio station merger happening at the same time. ;D

Not that it means anything one way or the other. 98.9 isn't changing until Monday and is currently simulcasting 100.5 and it's very possible they could change both 98.9 and 97.9 on Monday. IF they are changing 97.9 on Monday, it wouldn't make sense for them to run dead air until then.

I think the last year was the best for 99x since it's return to the air in 2010. It's kind of gotten the same treatment as the Thrashers did.....red-headed step shild that people loved but considered an albatross form kom and dad.

LOL. Hope it's happening for y'all wanting alternative back, but it's just funny how many times this station has risen from the dead -- online and off. I can't think of another station that's had that kind of on-again/off-again history.

Uh...that cover photo has been there since August the first. Not saying it isn't coming back, but I'm saying not on 98.9- most likely 97.9. The Walk sounds like the real deal for the 98.9 translator.

No change yet, but one is coming. It will actually take the signal more away from Georgia and make it more solid in Gadsden/Anniston.
