Easy format that would be Soft AC that would give WEJZ a challenger which is badly needed in this market. The format is working very well in Miami against their heritage Lite station.

It won't be "Easy" ... they didn't even bother to use the Miami or Tampa voice to stunt it.

It was the rock guy.

Power is doing well on the translator ...

Maybe it's something not stunted at all and that would be Urban Oldies...

This is all a guessing game right now. For the hell of it, I started thinking of WMMO/Orlando and I checked out their programming for the last few hours. What if, Cox finds a sweet spot where they don't step too much on Eagle 96.9 but go into some kind of adults hits direction with a lot less rock?

This would be edgier than a softer AC and maybe it's another way to compete against some of WEJZ's demos at the workplace. For those looking for more than fluff and who have tired of the attitude thing at Jack, this may be the ticket. It's just an idea and I guess that's all we got right now.

ireally hope it goes to power cause i can get 1045 here in melbourne and theres no hip hop here talk is retarted easy is just dumb country really????? and caliente is fine where it is thers a reason power is so high in ratings with an eleven so just imagine with a bigger stick

@JohnJax: Good thinking! That is possible!

Maybe we will see 104.5 push the buttons at 5pm today? Its another logical time choice.

This has been an interesting situation to say the least.

My guesses would be tonight at the same time they signed off or on May 1st.

OK guys A little OT here but if planet does in fact come back where would it go? I have not been in that market in years so my guess is 97.9. I really don't see any other station CC would risk flipping. Do you guys think cox would try ESPN 104.5? again this is from an out of market person and I don't know if jacksonville has ESPN. Also how about 104.5 the bone like over in Tampa? I don't know how Jacksonville would be for a hot talk format. I got it. Why not cool 105? That would be awesome. :) hahahah that is a dream but that would be awesome. I loved magic 1073 when I listened to it. Just my thoughts.... Maybe that ESPN idea is way off the mark because Jacksonville only has one professional sports team.

Well, it's obvious that folks here are tired of the stunting. I wonder what Jax listeners think. It wouldn't do a thing for WFYV ratings-wise as the TSL would be so small.

Eh....it would be very easy to segue 96.9 into an "MMO styled" classic hits type station as it is now. If that was the plan, I'd think Cox would have already done it to 96.9 & not blow up another stick. I also feel 96.9 & to a lesser extent, 107.3, both do a number on 96.1.

Hot talk has been tried twice here...and failed. If CC reincarnated Planet, I'd say 97.9.

As for FM sports, we have that on 92.5 & on translators.

No ESPN on 104.5....why? 1010/92.5 has the Jacksonville rights to ESPN. Sports talk is served well enough.

Btw, I contacted the Times-Union and more importantly the writer who did the story on Friday about the sign off. He will be asking questions about the stunting. As BostonRandy has said we all have had enough with the stunting. Just time for the new format to show up and say hello to all of us.

I was part of Real Radio 106.5 before the flip to Big 106.5. Outside of The Greaseman and, to a lesser extent, The Don & Mike Show, the Hot Talk format didn't work. With that said, that was 1996 to early 1998 and the present radio landscape is much different.

Besides, why would Cox go "Hot Talk" and, possibly, siphon listeners from WOKV AM & FM? The better odds would be that the FM simulcast slides to 104.5 and some reincarnation of classic rock debuts on 106.5, which is a 6K-A signal.

An AC makes the most sense for them. They have younger end female (WAPE), News/Talk which skews Male, Classic Hits/Rock on Eagle, and young Rock on XXJ. Urban is doing fine on the translator so why mess with it. Some sort of AC would mess up WEJZ as well.. but again, doesn't sound like it.

Why do you say it doesn't sound like it? Care to fill us in more on this? Is this based on what you hear in the stunting?

Which begs the question: "Which format is deserved of a 100K-C signal?" That would lead me to a straight-up competitor to Lite 96.1, which also occupies a 100K-C0 stick. Other than that, I cannot come up with another legitimate format to replace Rock 104.5. Would Cox move the WOKV-FM signal to 104.5? Possibly. But the Lite AC format (Easy, Dove, etc.) going head-to-head with Renda's long-time property is my odds-on favorite.

Something 35-54 female seems to fit with what they do not have.

the female demographic if they decided to change to AC targeting 35-54 would be in competition with WYRE in St.Augustine. That being said i don't think there are any other stations like that in Jacksonille (Maybe WEJZ?)

If it's the AC route Cox takes, it will be Lite AC instead of a Hot AC like the 16K WYRE. Most of 'YRE's signal into Jacksonville is "distant" at best on the south end with from the area north of Bowden Road considered "fringe". Why compete with someone who really isn't a competitor?
